This 1981 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 is said to have been purchased new by the seller’s uncle and was acquired the seller in 1999. Subsequent refurbishment work is said to have included a repaint, an interior refresh, a rear axle overhaul, and a rebuild of the small-block V8 to a displacement of 383ci. The car is finished in silver over black and silver leather upholstery, and it is equipped with a three-speed automatic transmission and a Positraction differential with 3.73:1 gears. Other components include a Holley four-barrel carburetor, an Edelbrock aluminum intake manifold, an MSD electronic ignition system, March Performance pulleys, Dynomax Performance exhaust headers, 15″ Weld Draglite wheels, a cowl-induction hood, and a Pioneer CD stereo. This Z28 is now offered with a factory build sheet, partial service records, a Carfax report, and a clean Michigan title in the seller’s name.
The car is noted to have been repainted in silver metallic under current ownership and features a cowl-induction hood, front and rear spoilers, fender vents, and body-color mirror caps. The glass and weatherstripping is said to have been replaced during the refurbishment, and the trunk weatherstripping is not installed. The seller reports paint blemishes on each side of the front bumper as well as on the driver-side rocker panel. The Carfax report lists an accident resulting in “moderate damage” to the rear of the vehicle in August 1987, and no additional information is provided.
Polished 15″ Weld Racing Draglite wheels are wrapped in staggered-width Mickey Thompson Sportsman M/T tires. The car is equipped with power steering, and braking is handled by front discs and rear drums.
Previously blue, the interior was reupholstered in its current black and silver leather by the seller. Equipment includes a center console, Z28-branded floor mats, and a Pioneer CD stereo. The speakers are said to have been replaced, and the driver-side visor and passenger-side seat belt cover are missing. Corrosion is noted in the passenger-side door jamb, and the air conditioning system has been removed.
The four-spoke steering wheel frames an 85-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a 5k-rpm redline, and auxiliary gauges. An AutoMeter Sport-Comp oil-pressure gauge is mounted below the dashboard, and the five-digit mechanical odometer shows 44k miles, approximately 7k of which were added by the seller. Total mileage is unknown.
The 383ci stroker V8 was reportedly built by Kim & Larry’s Performance of Shelby Township, Michigan, and features a Holley 750-cfm Double Pumper carburetor, March Performance pulleys, Dynomax Performance headers, an MSD ignition module and distributor, and an Edelbrock aluminum intake manifold, valve covers, and air cleaner. An oil leak is reported by the seller.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed TH350 automatic transmission and a 10-bolt rear end that has been fitted with a Positraction differential with 3.73:1 gears. A custom dual exhaust system has been fitted.
The Carfax report shows the aforementioned accident in August 1987 as well as history in Michigan dating back to 1987.
