This 1977 Chevrolet Camaro LT is said to be one of eight examples built by former GM engineer Bill Mitchell that were modified with a turbocharger, water/alcohol injection, an engine air cooler, ported and polished cylinder heads, a bespoke front air dam, a raised cowl hood, windshield clips, rear window straps, hood pins, driving lamps, a Racemark steering wheel, and bolstered front bucket seats as well as 14″ Minilite alloy wheels, Koni shock absorbers, and upgraded front and rear sway bars. The car is powered by a modified 350ci V8 paired with a four-speed manual transmission and is finished in silver blue over red cloth. Features include air conditioning, power windows, power steering, power-assisted front disc brakes, and a Delco push-button AM/FM radio. The seller acquired the car in 2016 and a replacement clutch, muffler, driveshaft, and throw-out bearing were subsequently installed, and an engine tune-up was performed. This Bill Mitchell Concept Camaro is offered with manufacturer’s literature, initial purchase documents, service records, and a clean New York title in the seller’s name.
The body is finished in silver blue and is said to have been repainted under current ownership. Features include a bespoke front air dam, a rear spoiler, a raised cowl hood, windshield clips, rear window straps, hood pins, driving lamps, polished rocker moldings, Bill Mitchell Concept badging, and a dual outlet exhaust that exits below the rear bumper.
The 14″ Minilite wheels wear red, white, and blue center caps and are mounted with 215/70 Michelin XWX tires. A space-saver spare is mounted in the trunk. The car is equipped with large-diameter front and rear sway bars, Koni shock absorbers, and a lowered suspension. Braking is handled by power-assisted front discs and rear drums.
The cabin features bolstered front bucket seats and a rear bench upholstered in red cloth. Equipment includes power windows and door locks, air conditioning, and a Delco push-button AM/FM radio. The center console lid is cracked, and the A-pillar interior trim, rear package shelf, and dash pad are worn. The air conditioning system was converted to utilize R134a refrigerant in 2022.
The Racemark steering wheel frames a 130-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and gauges for fuel level, battery voltage, coolant temperature, and boost pressure. A Bosch oil pressure gauge is mounted below the center of the dashboard. The five-digit mechanical odometer shows 31k miles, and the total mileage is unknown.
The 350ci was reportedly modified by Bill Mitchell’s Special Vehicle Developments with ported and polished cylinder heads and an AiResearch turbocharger system incorporating a compressor bypass valve, an engine air cooler, a unique intake manifold, and water/alcohol injection. The muffler was replaced, and an engine tune-up was performed in 2022.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a 10-bolt Positraction rear axle. The clutch and throw-out bearing were replaced in 2022.
