This 1973 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 Type LT is said to have spent time in Florida and California before it was relocated to Canada, where it was acquired by the current owner in 2014. Subsequent work included modifying the 350ci Turbo-Fire V8 by boring it over and installing an aftermarket camshaft, an electronic fuel pump, an electronic MSD ignition system, an aluminum radiator, Summit Racing aluminum cylinder heads, and a dual exhaust system. Shifting is through a Tremec five-speed manual transmission, and the car is finished in green with black stripes over a green interior. Additional equipment includes a limited-slip differential with a Moser Engineering differential cover, 15″ Billet Specialties wheels, Wilwood front brakes, a Hotchkis 2″ suspension lowering kit, front and rear spoilers, a Kenwood CD stereo, a Hurst shifter, and air conditioning. This Camaro Z28 is now offered by the selling dealer with a copy of the Camaro Restoration Handbook, a spare 15″ wheelset, spare parts, and Ontario registration.
Finished from the factory in Light Green (44) with a green vinyl roof, the body was repainted about 30 years ago, according to the selling dealer. Black stripes adorn the hood, rear deck, and spoiler, and additional exterior features include a front spoiler, body-color side mirrors, chrome bumpers, and quad recessed round taillights. Photos showing finish imperfections and paint meter readings are included in the gallery below.
Billet Specialties 15″ wheels are mounted with 205/70 Uniroyal Tiger Paw rubber up front and 275/60 Nitto NT550R Extreme Drag tires out back. A set of black-finished 15″ five-spoke wheels wearing 235/60 BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires is also included in the sale and pictured in the gallery. Wilwood brakes with drilled and slotted rotors and two-piston calipers have been added up front, and the selling dealer states that the rear drums were replaced under current ownership. A Hotchkis 2″ suspension drop kit featuring shocks, springs, frame connectors, leaf springs, and sway bars is equipped.
The selling dealer reports that the cabin was refreshed in the 1980s, at which time the front bucket and individual rear seats were upholstered in green cloth and vinyl. Woodgrain veneer adorns the dashboard and doors, and additional interior appointments include a Kenwood CD stereo, a Hurst shifter, a Tremec-branded black cueball-style shift knob, and air conditioning.
The Turbo-Fire V8 was reportedly overbored to 355ci during the refurbishment process and fitted with an aftermarket camshaft, an electronic fuel pump, and Summit Racing aluminum cylinder heads. Additional equipment includes an electronic MSD ignition system, an aluminum radiator, and a dual exhaust system with 3″ piping.
The engine stamping is shown above.
The Tremec five-speed manual transmission was fitted during the modification process and sends power to the rear wheels through a Positraction limited-slip differential, which is said to be equipped with with 4.30:1 gearing. A Moser Engineering differential cover has also been fitted.
