This 1972 Chevrolet Impala convertible was sold new by Key City Motors of Kankakee, Illinois, in November 1971 and was acquired by the current owner in the early 1990s. Powered by a 350ci V8 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission, the car is finished in blue with a power-operated white convertible top over black vinyl upholstery. Equipment includes styled wheel covers, power steering, power brakes, fender skirts, and an AM radio. The transmission was rebuilt in early 2023 and the engine was resealed. Now showing 74k miles, this Impala is offered on dealer consignment in Iowa with manufacturer’s literature, a recent service record, and an Illinois title.
The car was finished from the factory in Fathom Blue (28) and has been repainted. Features include a power-operated white convertible top, rear fender skirts, and chrome bumpers and trim. The convertible-top drive cables reportedly were replaced in July 2024. The remote-operation function of the driver-side mirror is inoperable. Chipped paint, a flaw above the left-front wheel opening, a pitted exterior door handle, and other imperfections are pictured in the gallery below.
Black-painted 15″ steel wheels with Chevrolet-logo styled covers are mounted with Hankook Optimo whitewall tires. The hydraulics of the power-assisted braking system were serviced in July 2024.
The bench seating surfaces are upholstered in black vinyl. Appointments include black carpeting, front and rear lap belts, an AM radio, and a heater. Interior wear is pictured in the gallery.
The two-spoke steering wheel fronts a 120-mph speedometer, warning lights, and a gauge for fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 74k miles.
The 350ci Turbo-Fire V8 was factory rated at 165 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. A valve-cover gasket, the rear main seal, and the oil-pan gasket were replaced in February 2023, at which time the oil was changed. The seller notes that an exhaust leak at the manifold can be heard during cold starts.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a Turbo Hydra-Matic three-speed automatic transmission, which was rebuilt in February 2023. Corrosion is noted on underbody components.
