This 1972 Chevrolet Camaro was modified during previous ownership and was purchased by the seller in 2012. It is finished in orange with black stripes over a black interior, and power comes from a 355ci V8 paired with a Tremec five-speed manual transmission. Modifications are said to include Wilwood disc brakes, a coilover suspension, a Posi-traction rear end, a Centerforce clutch, and American Racing Torq Thrust wheels. This Camaro is now offered with receipts dating back to 2006 and a clean Virginia title in the seller’s name.
The car was reportedly repainted in orange in 2006. Black stripes, a cowl induction hood, and Z28 badging were added. Imperfections noted by the seller include cracking paint on the lower rear left-front fender, lower rear valance, and both quarter panels. Replacement patches are said to have been added to the rear floor pans and rear quarter panels, and corrosion is noted on the left-rear quarter panel.
Staggered-width 17″ American Racing wheels wear Bridgestone Potenza RE750 tires that were mounted in 2007. The suspension has been reportedly modified with a four-link rear with coilover shocks, a coilover front suspension, larger front and rear sway bars, and upgraded frame connectors. Wilwood disc brakes are mounted at all four corners, and the ride height is said to be adjustable.
The interior is trimmed in black with matching carpets, dashboard, and trim. Amenities include bucket seats, a center console, and power steering.
The three-spoke steering wheel is trimmed in walnut and frames replacement AutoMeter Pro-Comp Ultra-Lite gauges, including a 160-mph speedometer, a 10k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for oil pressure, water temperature, voltage, and fuel level. The digital odometer indicates 6k miles, approximately 4k of which were added by the seller. True mileage is unknown.
The 350ci V8 was overbored to 355ci and reportedly features Crane camshafts, forged pistons, and a Holley 670-cfm aluminum Street Avenger carburetor. It is mated to a Tremec five-speed manual gearbox with a Centerforce clutch and a 3.73:1 Posi-traction rear differential. The seller has installed a Be Cool aluminum radiator with an electric cooling fan and an Optima battery. An oil leak is noted, along with a driveline vibration in 4th and 5th gears.
The dual exhaust and rear suspension setup are shown above. The seller notes that the left rear exhaust hanger is broken. Additional photos of the front suspension can be viewed in this gallery. Start-up and driving videos are viewable below:
