This 1971 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 was built on September 12, 1970 at the Van Nuys, California plant and was originally delivered to South Bay Chevrolet in Chula Vista, California. The car is finished in Burnt Orange with black racing stripes over a black vinyl interior, and power comes from a numbers-matching 350ci LT1 V8 paired with a four-speed manual transmission and a 4.10:1 Positraction rear differential. The seller acquired the car in 2015, and service has since included replacing the clutch, ignition components, and shocks as well as the installation of a dual exhaust system with Flowmaster mufflers. This Z/28 is now offered with its factory build sheet, a Protect-O-Plate, an NCRS Shipping Data Report, period literature, and a clean Colorado title in the seller’s name.
The exterior is finished in Burnt Orange (62) with black stripes and features chrome bumpers, Z/28 badging, and chrome rocker panel moldings. The car is equipped with a matching one-piece rear spoiler, though it was originally ordered with option “D80” specifying a larger three-piece rear spoiler. A repaint was performed some time ago, and rust bubbling on the lower body panels and several paint chips are pointed out by the seller in the photo gallery.
Five-spoke 15″ rally wheels wear bowtie center caps and are wrapped in 235/60 BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires. Work performed by the seller has included repacking the front wheel bearings, installing new front wheel seals, replacing the shocks, and performing a brake fluid flush and chassis lube service.
The interior is trimmed in black standard vinyl (775) with matching carpets and replacement door panels. Equipment includes a padded dash, front shoulder belts, and a Logik AM/FM cassette radio.
A two-spoke steering wheel with an aftermarket lace-up cover fronts factory instrumentation, which consists of a 150-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, as well as gauges for fuel level, amperage, and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 61k miles, approximately 500 of which were added by the seller.
The 350ci LT1 V8 features a four-barrel Holley Street Avenger carburetor and was factory-rated at 330 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque. Service performed since 2015 has reportedly included replacement hood insulation, a replacement fuel-level sender, a coolant flush, and an ignition tune-up with new spark plugs, ignition wires, distributor cap, and rotor.
Engine stamping 11L502876 matches the last six digits of the chassis plate, and the code suffix “CGP” indicates a Z/28 with a manual transmission.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Muncie four-speed transmission and a 4.10:1 Positraction rear end. The transmission was serviced by the seller, and the clutch and rear driveshaft U-joint are said to have been replaced. A dual exhaust system with Flowmaster mufflers has been added, and additional work performed between 2015 and 2017 is outlined on a list in the gallery below.
The build sheet lists the factory options, shows assembly at the Van Nuys plant, and displays original delivery to South Bay Chevrolet of Chula Vista, California. An NCRS Shipping Data report is included in the gallery, along with decodes of the trim tag as well as the transmission and rear axle stampings.
A start-up and engine rev video is presented above, and a driving video can be seen below. Additional in-car footage is viewable here.
