This 1971 Chevrolet Camaro was produced at GM’s Norwood, Ohio facility and subsequently refurbished under previous ownership by Buxton Motorsports of Irvine, California. Finished in Indigo Blue over a custom two-tone leather interior, the car features a replacement 454ci V8 equipped with dual carburetors, and additional modifications include a dual exhaust system, limited-slip rear end, staggered 17″ wheels, adjustable coilovers, disc brakes, Vintage Air A/C, and an aftermarket stereo. Acquired by the seller in 2009, this Camaro is offered in Florida with service records, a copy of Super Chevy magazine featuring the car, and a clean Virginia title in the seller’s name.
The body was refinished in its current Indigo Blue during the refurbishment, and features include front and rear spoilers, a cowl-induction hood scoop, silver pearl stripes, and Z/28 and 454 badging on the front fenders. The seller notes the presence of paint chips, and the finish is shown up close in the photo gallery below
Staggered-width 17″ American Racing Torq Thrust II wheels feature a polished finish and are fitted with older Kumho tires measuring 215/50 in the front and 255/50 at the rear. Baer disc brakes are fitted at all four corners.
Two-tone leather upholstery with silver stitching cover the four bucket seats, door panels, and dashboard. Additional modifications include an air-conditioning system from Vintage Air, a B&M shifter, a Budnik billet steering wheel, and an Alpine stereo linked to a pair of subwoofers mounted in the trunk.
White-faced AutoMeter gauges are ringed in silver and feature a five-digit odometer indicating just over 2,500 miles, 2k of which have been added by the seller in 11 years. The seller notes the HVAC slide knob control requires repair.
The replacement 454ci V8 engine features Edelbrock Performer cylinder heads, a Crane Max Power roller camshaft, an aluminum radiator, and billet ancillary componentry. The engine breathes through a pair of Holley carburetors on a polished intake manifold and Hooker exhaust headers feeding a dual exhaust system.
Power is routed to the rear wheels via a four-speed automatic transmission and a 12-bolt limited-slip rear end equipped with 3.73:1 gears. Further updates include Global West coilovers with adjustable QA1 shocks, replacement tubular A-arms, Deaver 2″ lowering springs, and Belltech 2″ drop spindles.
The car was featured in the July 2007 issues of Super Chevy magazine, copies of which will accompany the sale.
Service records from current ownership are included in the sale. A video featuring this Camaro is presented below.
