This 1970 Chevelle Malibu SS was sold new at Terry Chevrolet of Grundy, Virginia, and is powered by a 454ci V8 linked with a TH400 three-speed automatic transmission and a 12-bolt rear axle. The car is finished in Astro Turquoise with black stripes over black vinyl upholstery and equipment includes air conditioning, a black vinyl roof covering, a cowl induction hood, a black grille and tail panel, power-assisted steering, power-assisted front disc brakes, 14” Super Sport wheels, a Rochester Quadrajet carburetor, and a Flowmaster dual exhaust system. This Chevelle SS was acquired by the selling dealer in 2023 and is now offered with its Protect-O-Plate, an owner’s manual, and a transferable New York registration document.
The car left the factory finished in Astro Blue (25) with black stripes and was repainted under prior ownership. Details include a black vinyl roof covering, chrome bumpers, quad headlamps, hood pins, bright trim, SS 454 badging, a black grille and tail panel, and dual exhaust outlets that exit below the rear valance.
The 14″ Super Sport wheels wear bright trim rings and are mounted with BFGoodrich Radial T/A white letter tires measuring 215/70 up front and 225/70 out back. A full-size spare is located in the trunk. The car is equipped with power steering, and braking is provided by power-assisted front discs and rear drums.
The front bucket seats and rear bench are trimmed in black vinyl and accompanied by a color-coordinated dashboard, headliner, headrests, door panels, and rubber floor mats. Equipment includes air conditioning, a center console, a horseshoe-style shifter, and lap belts for all occupants. The seller reports that the push-button AM radio does not function.
The three-spoke steering wheel frames a 120-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, an analog clock, and supplementary gauges for amperage, coolant temperature, and fuel level. An aftermarket oil pressure gauge is located beneath the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 424 miles approximately 30 of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The 454ci V8 features a cowl induction air cleaner, a Rochester Quadrajet carburetor, and chrome valve covers. An oil change was performed and the carburetor and fuel tank are said to have been replaced recently. An engine stamp and other casting images are shown in the gallery.
Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a TH400 three-speed automatic transmission and a 12-bolt rear axle. A Flowmaster dual exhaust system has been installed.
