1970 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu

This 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu sport coupe was acquired by the seller in 2003 from a family member. Subsequent work consisted of repainting the body, replacing interior components, and installing a 477ci V8, a TH350 three-speed automatic transmission, and a 12-bolt rear axle with a 3.73:1 Positraction differential. The car is finished in red with black stripes over black vinyl upholstery, and additional features include a cowl hood, power steering, Hotchkis sway bars and rear control arms, Wilwood four-wheel disc brakes, 15″ American Racing wheels, a Dart intake manifold, Holley HP electronic fuel injection, Vintage Air climate control, MSD ignition components, and a dual exhaust system with Flowmaster mufflers. This modified Chevelle is now offered with New York registration in the seller’s name.

The car was reportedly refinished in red with black hood and decklid stripes in 2016. Details include a high-rise cowl hood, a left mirror, quad headlights, chrome bumpers, an SS grille and badging, bright wheel-arch moldings, and dual exhaust outlets that exit below the rear bumper. There is a chip in the windshield and there is a paint chip between the left-front door and fender.

Chrome 15″ American Racing wheels are mounted with 205/75 Cooper Trendsetter SE tires up front and 295/65 Mickey Thompson ET Street Radial tires out back. The car is equipped with power-assisted steering as well as Hotchkis sway bars and rear control arms. Braking is handled by unassisted Wilwood discs at each corner.

The cabin features front bucket seats and a rear bench re-upholstered in black vinyl joined by a color-coordinated dashboard, center console, door panels, and carpets. Equipment includes Vintage Air climate control, a horseshoe-style shifter, sound insulation, polished door sills, and lap belts. The radio does not work, there is a crack in the front dash pad, the rear sail panels are separating, and door panels and seat covers are worn.

The two-spoke steering wheel frames a 120-mph speedometer, an analog clock, and a fuel-level gauge. An AutoMeter tachometer is mounted to the steering column, and a matching trio of auxiliary gauges are located below the center stack. The five-digit odometer shows 61k miles, approximately 4k of which have been added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.

The replacement 477ci V8 was installed under current ownership and was reportedly fitted with a forged rotating assembly, a hydraulic roller camshaft, and aluminum cylinder heads. Additional features include a Holley HP electronic fuel injection system, a Dart intake manifold, an MSD digital ignition system and distributor, black-finished Moroso valve covers, and full-length exhaust headers. An aluminum radiator and an aftermarket fan and shroud have been installed. An oil change was performed in preparation for the sale.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a TH350 three-speed automatic transmission and a 12-bolt rear axle with a Positraction differential and 3.73:1 gears. A dual exhaust system with Flowmaster mufflers has been installed.

The car does not have a title, as it is registered in a state that does not issue titles for vehicles of its age. It is being sold on its transferrable New York registration.
