This 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu convertible underwent a refurbishment in 2014 before being acquired by the selling dealer in Texas five years ago. The car is finished in Fathom Blue with white stripes over pearl white vinyl and powered by a replacement 454ci V8 paired with a Muncie M22 four-speed manual transmission and a 12-bolt Positraction rear axle. Additional equipment includes a white soft top, a cowl-induction hood, SS badging, 15″ Super Sport wheels, front disc brakes, power steering, front bucket seats, a Hurst shifter, and an AM radio. Work carried out in November 2023 consisted of replacing the front bumper, grille, and hood. This Chevelle Malibu convertible is now offered with a clean Texas title.
The car was repainted in Fathom Blue with white stripes under previous ownership during the aforementioned refurbishment in 2014. Equipment includes a manually-operated white soft top, a matching top boot, a black grille and tail panel, chrome bumpers, quad headlamps, hood pins, SS 454 badging, and polished dual exhaust finishers. In November 2023, the front bumper, grille, and hood were replaced after the car was backed into while parked in the seller’s garage.
The 14″ Super Sport wheels wear chrome trim rings and are mounted with 215/70 Cooper Cobra Radial G/T tires. The car is equipped with power steering, and braking is handled by power-assisted front discs and rear drums.
The front bucket seats and rear bench are upholstered in ivory vinyl and accompanied by a color-coordinated dashboard and door panels. Equipment includes a center console, a push-button radio, a Hurst shifter, lap belts, and SS-branded black floormats.
The two-spoke SS-branded steering wheel frames a 120-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, a clock, and supplementary gauges for amperage, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 1k miles, approximately 200 of which have been added under current ownership. True mileage is unknown.
The replacement 454ci V8 was installed under prior ownership and features a cowl induction air cleaner, a four-barrel carburetor, and an aluminum intake manifold.
Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a Muncie M22 four-speed manual transmission and a 12-bolt Positraction rear axle.
