This 1970 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 was delivered new by O.C. Shreffler & Son in Manteno, Illinois, in May 1970, and it was acquired by the current owner in 2019. Power is supplied by a 350ci LT1 V8 paired with a Muncie M21 four-speed manual transmission, and the car is finished in Classic Copper over black vinyl. Factory features include a Positraction rear end, F41 performance suspension, power-assisted steering and front disc brakes, a Hurst shifter, a heater, and a Delco AM radio. It reportedly received a repaint and engine rebuild during prior ownership, and the starter was replaced in 2022. This Z/28 is now offered on dealer consignment with build sheets, a Protect-O-Plate, a spare carburetor, and a clean North Carolina title.
Finished from the factory in Classic Copper (67), the car was repainted in the early 1990s according to the seller, who notes a COPO-style rear spoiler was added at that time. Additional features include a front spoiler, white stripes, chrome bumpers with rear guards, and body-colored mirrors. Paint cracking is noted on the nose and portions of the hood, and the finish is depicted further in the gallery below.
Painted Rally wheels wear bright trim rings along with 15″ BFGoodrich white-letter tires. A full-size spare fitted with an older Goodyear tire is stored in the trunk. Braking is handled by power-assisted disc brakes up front and drums at the rear, and the car was optioned from the factory with power steering and the F41 performance suspension package.
The cabin features front Strato bucket seats and a rear bench trimmed in black vinyl along with color-coordinated door panels and carpets. Equipment includes a center console, woodgrain trim, front shoulder belts, a Hurst shifter with a chrome shift knob, and a Delco AM radio. Delamination is noted on the climate control panel.
The four-spoke steering wheel frames a 150-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, an analog clock, and gauges for fuel level, amperage, and coolant temperature. A pair of Sun auxiliary gauges are mounted ahead of the shifter. The five-digit odometer shows 74k miles.
The 350ci LT1 V8 was reportedly rebuilt in 1993, though supporting records are unavailable, and the seller states that the fuel tank, carburetor, and radiator were also replaced. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Muncie M21 four-speed manual transmission and a 3.70:1 Positraction rear end. The engine stamping shown within the gallery includes the digits 17950, which match portions the vehicle’s serial number. The “CTB” suffix to the same pad indicates a 350ci/360-horsepower engine with a manual transmission.
An oil change was performed and the starter was replaced in 2022. Additional photos are presented in the gallery below showing the suspension, chassis, and driveline, as well as corrosion on portions of the mechanical components.
