1970 Chevrolet Camaro SS 350

This 1970 Chevrolet Camaro SS was sold new in September 1970 at Herb Hallman Chevrolet of Reno, Nevada, and remained with the original owner until it was purchased by the seller in February 2024. The car is finished in Hugger Orange over Sandalwood vinyl and powered by a 350ci Turbo-Fire V8 linked with a four-speed manual transmission and a Positraction limited-slip differential. Further equipment includes a Hurst shifter, a Pioneer AM/FM cassette stereo, and a luggage rack along with power steering, power-assisted front disc brakes, and 14″ steel wheels with polished hubcaps. Now showing 78k miles, this Camaro SS is offered in Fruitland, Idaho, with a build sheet, a Protect-O-Plate, manufacturer’s literature, service records, handwritten mileage records, spare and removed parts, and a clean Nevada title in the seller’s name.

Factory-finished in Hugger Orange, the car features dual halogen headlamps, fog lamps, and quad recessed round taillights. The hood is secured by aftermarket pins, and a luggage rack is fitted out back. The seller notes that a previously installed Herb Hallman dealership emblem was removed the decklid, the holes were filled with bondo, and portions of the rear of the car were repainted in the early 1970s. The orange 14″ steel wheels wear polished hubcaps and are mounted with reproduction F70-14 Goodyear Polyglass tires. A full-size spare is stored in the trunk. The car is equipped with power steering along with a front coil-spring suspension paired with a leaf-sprung rear setup. Braking is handled by power-assisted front discs and rear drums.

The four seats wear plastic covers over Sandalwood vinyl upholstery and are accompanied by a color-coordinated dashboard and door panels. A Hurst shifter exits from the center console, which is accented by woodgrain trim that extends to the steering wheel and instrument surround. A Pioneer AM/FM cassette stereo is connected to four aftermarket speakers, and further appointments include a heater, lap belts, and manual-crank windows.

The two-spoke steering wheel wears SS badging and fronts a tachometer with a 5k-rpm redline along with a 150-mph speedometer, an analog clock, and auxiliary gauges. A Stewart Warner oil pressure gauge has been added along with a toggle switch for the fog lamps and indicator lights for the brakes and lighting. The five-digit odometer shows 78k miles, approximately 250 of which have been added under current ownership.

The 350ci Turbo-Fire V8 has been fitted with a Rochester Quadrajet carburetor along with a Mallory Unilite distributor and coil. Work in May 2024 involved changing the oil as well as replacing the spark plugs and ignition wires.

The engine block stamping includes a CNJ suffix, which aligns with a 350ci L48 V8 for use with a four-speed manual transmission.

Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a Positraction limited-slip differential. The fluids for the transmission and differential were changed in May 2024.
