This 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu convertible was modified under prior ownership and is powered by a replacement 400ci V8 equipped with FiTech electronic fuel injection and linked with a four-speed automatic transmission as well as a Ford-sourced 9″ rear axle. Finished in black over black vinyl upholstery, the car is further equipped with a power-operated black soft top, 17″ Budnik wheels, power steering, power-assisted disc brakes, lowering suspension components, a Super Sport-style hood, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, and a Sony CD stereo in addition to an MSD ignition control module and a dual-exhaust system utilizing Doug Thorley headers and MagnaFlow mufflers. Acquired by the seller in 2006, this modified Chevelle Malibu convertible is now offered with a clean California title in the seller’s name.
Finished from the factory in Fathom Green (57), the car was repainted in black under prior ownership, at which time a replacement power-operated black soft top with a glass rear window was installed. Exterior details include chrome bumpers, a Super Sport-style hood, dual side mirrors, and a fender-mounted antenna. Rust in the passenger door and other paint blemishes are pictured in the gallery below.
Polished 17″ Budnik alloy wheels were mounted with 275/40 front and 285/40 rear Nitto NT555 G2 tires in 2017. The car is equipped with power steering, and a lowered ride height is accomplished with aftermarket suspension components accompanied by front and rear sway bars. Braking is provided by power-assisted discs at all four corners, and Wilwood calipers are mounted at the rear. A power steering fluid leak is noted.
The interior features front and rear bench seats trimmed in black vinyl upholstery joined by a color-coordinated dashboard and door panels. Carpeted floor mats line the footwells, and equipment includes a Sony CD stereo, kick panel-mounted speakers, a heater and defroster, and a FiTech display and control interface. The seller notes a scratch on the driver’s seat bolster and that the air conditioning system does not work. Leaking trunk seals were repaired under current ownership, and rust repairs were performed to the trunk.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts a central analog clock, a 120-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and auxiliary gauges for fuel level, voltage, coolant temperature, and oil pressure. Additional AutoMeter gauges for coolant temperature and oil pressure are mounted to the A-pillar. The seller notes the dashboard gear indicator display was removed. The five-digit odometer indicates 32k miles, approximately 15k of which have been added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The replacement 400ci stroker V8 was installed under prior ownership and features a FiTech Go-Street electronic fuel-injection system that was installed in 2017. Additional equipment includes an MSD ignition control module, an aluminum intake manifold, an Edelbrock mesh air cleaner assembly, and Doug Thorley long-tube exhaust headers. An oil leak is noted.
Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a 700R4 four-speed automatic transmission and a Ford-sourced 9″ rear axle. A replacement fuel tank was installed, and the dual exhaust system features an H-pipe as well as MagnaFlow high-flow catalytic converters and XL Performance mufflers. The transmission and rear axle are noted to leak.
