This 1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS coupe was first sold by Bob Coyle Chevrolet in San Jose, California, in January 1969 and received a body-off refurbishment during prior ownership before its acquisition by the seller in 2013. The car is finished in LeMans Blue over an ivory vinyl interior and is powered by a 396ci L78 V8 linked with a four-speed manual transmission and a Posi-traction rear end. Equipment includes an AM radio, a Hurst shifter, power steering, a dual exhaust system, front and rear spoilers, power-assisted front disc brakes, and 14″ Rally wheels. Recent maintenance included an oil change and a coolant flush. This Camaro is now offered with a Protect-O-Plate, manufacturer’s literature, model literature, a car cover, spare parts, and a clean Virginia title in the seller’s name.
The 1969 Camaro featured wider bodywork and a tapered front grille when compared to earlier models, and this example underwent a body-off refurbishment during prior ownership including a repaint in its factory LeMans Blue (71). The body features white hockey stick stripes along with SS and 396 badging, and equipment includes SS hood trim, a driver-side mirror, a dual exhaust system, rear quarter vent moldings, front and rear spoilers, and chrome bumpers with front and rear bumper guards.
The 14″ Rally wheels wear chrome hubcaps and beauty rings as well as Goodyear Polyglas tires. Equipment includes power steering and power-assisted front disc brakes.
The cabin features bucket seats with headrests upholstered in ivory vinyl, along with matching door panels and a black dashboard and carpets. Additional equipment includes a Hurst shifter, an AM radio, a heater, manual crank windows, SS 396-logo floor mats, and faux-wood paneling on the center console.
The three-spoke steering wheel fronts a 120-mph speedometer and a 7k-rpm tachometer. Auxiliary gauges for oil pressure, engine temperature, amperage, and fuel level are mounted on the center console. The five-digit odometer shows just over 500 miles, which is said to represent the distance covered since the refurbishment. True mileage is unknown.
The 396ci L78 “Turbo Jet” V8 features an aluminum intake manifold and a chrome air cleaner and valve covers. MSD ignition wires are installed, and an oil change and coolant flush were performed in October 2020. Photos of engine stampings are presented in the gallery below.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission and a Posi-traction rear axle.
