This 1969 Chevrolet Camaro was refurbished in the style of a COPO ZL1 model in 2008 and was acquired by the seller on BaT in March 2021. Power is provided by a big-block V8 based on an aluminum ZL1 block produced by Schwartz Machine Company that utilizes GM Performance aluminum cylinder heads and is mated to a Muncie M-21 four-speed manual transmission and a 4.10:1 Posi-traction differential. Finished in Daytona Yellow over black vinyl upholstery, the car is equipped with 14″ wheels, a cowl-induction hood, front disc brakes, a Hurst shifter, a Holley four-barrel carburetor, and a dual exhaust system from Gardner Exhaust Systems. This COPO Camaro tribute is offered with manufacturer’s literature, service records, and a clean Arizona title in the seller’s name.
Finished in Dover White from the factory, the car was repainted Daytona Yellow in 2008. Exterior details include a cowl induction hood, a rear deck spoiler, a front lip spoiler, chrome-finished bumpers and rocker panel moldings, and a Gardner Exhaust Systems exhaust with dual outlets and polished finishers.
Color-matched 14″ steel wheels wear polished covers and reproduction F70-14 Goodyear Wide Tread tires with raised white letters. Stopping power is provided by power-assisted front discs and rear drums, and a front anti-roll bar is fitted.
The cabin features high-back front bucket seats and a rear bench upholstered in black vinyl along with matching door panels and carpets. Equipment includes a Hurst shifter, black lap belts, and black rubber floor mats. A radio-delete panel is mounted on the dash, and the heater has been removed.
The three-spoke steering wheel features brushed spokes and frames a 120-mph speedometer, a fuel-level gauge, and various warning lamps. The five-digit odometer shows approximately 254 miles, which is said to reflect the distance traveled since the 2008 refurbishment. True mileage is unknown.
The big-block V8 is based on an aluminum ZL1 block produced by Schwartz Machine Company for GM Performance and reportedly displaces 454ci. The engine was built in 2007 using forged pistons, COMP Cams solid lifters, roller rocker arms, and aluminum GM Performance rectangular-port cylinder heads. Additional equipment includes a Holley four-barrel carburetor, chrome valve covers, a heavy-duty radiator with a curved upper neck, and a reproduction Delco-style battery. An oil change was performed in preparation for the sale.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Muncie M-21 four-speed manual transmission and a 12-bolt rear axle with a 4.10:1 Posi-traction differential.
Manufacturer’s literature, service records, a matching key chain, and a 1/18 model are included in the sale.
