Other equipment includes a Positraction rear axle, 15″ Rally-style wheels, disc brakes, front and rear spoilers, a center console, woodgrain interior trim, a Hurst shifter, and a push-button stereo. The car was acquired by the selling dealer in mid-2022. This Z/28 is now offered in Iowa with manufacturer’s literature, a Protect-O-Plate, service records, and a clean Illinois title.
The car was finished from the factory in Olympic Gold (65) with black stripes and was refinished by Eddie’s Rod and Custom of Cedar Rapids, Iowa following bodywork in 2014. Equipment includes a cowl-induction hood, front and rear spoilers, and Z/28 badging in addition to chrome trim, bumpers, and dual side mirrors. The passenger door was repaired and repainted in 2015, and the right-front turn signal and the taillights were replaced in 2021.
Rally-style 15″ wheels are finished in silver with bright trim rings and hubcaps and are wrapped in 215/70 BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires. Braking is handled by power-assisted front discs and rear drums.
The cabin originally featured an Ivory interior and has been refurbished in black vinyl with Deluxe Comfortweave inserts on the front bucket seats and the rear bench along with coordinating door panels and carpeting. Equipment includes a center console, woodgrain trim, a Hurst shifter, and a push-button stereo.
The two-spoke steering wheel frames a 120-mph speedometer, a clock, and a tachometer with a 6k-rpm redline, while auxiliary gauges are mounted in the center console ahead of the shifter. The five-digit odometer shows 36k miles, approximately 25 of which were added by the selling dealer. True mileage is unknown.
The 302ci V8 is equipped with a Holley four-barrel carburetor and finned valve covers. The selling dealer notes that the exhaust manifold was replaced under previous ownership and the cylinder heads show 1970 date codes. The jets were replaced and the carburetor tuned in 2021 in addition to changing the oil.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Muncie four-speed manual transmission and a Positraction rear axle with 3.73:1 gears.
A Protect-O-Plate, manufacturer’s literature, and recent service records are included in the sale. Various stampings and casting numbers are pictured in the gallery below, assembled in a binder that will accompany the vehicle.
