This 1969 Chevrolet Camaro was acquired by the seller in 2008 and subsequently modified in the style of the Penske/Sunoco Camaros that competed in the SCCA Trans-American Championship series in the 1960s. The car is finished in blue over black and powered by a replacement 302ci V8 paired with a Muncie M-22 four-speed “rock-crusher” manual transmission and a 12-bolt positraction rear axle with 4.10:1 gears. Features include a roll cage, Penske/Sunoco Trans Am-style graphics, hood pins, side-outlet exhaust, an MSD electronic ignition, and a cross-ram intake with dual Holley four-barrel carburetors as well as power-assisted Wilwood disc brakes, power steering, yellow-finished Minilite wheels, adjustable shock absorbers, bucket seats with Simpson racing harnesses, and Stewart Warner instrumentation. This Camaro is offered with a clean New Jersey title in the seller’s name.
The car is said to have been refinished in blue with Penske/Sunoco Trans Am-style graphics during current ownership. Features include a cowl hood, rear spoiler, chrome mirrors, drip rails, bumpers, side-outlet exhausts, hood pins, pinstripes on the tail panel and body sides, and access to the tank filler through the trunk lid.
The yellow-finished staggered Minilite wheels are mounted with BFGoodrich g-Force Sport tires. The car is equipped with power steering and QA1 adjustable shock absorbers. Stopping power is provided by assisted Wilwood disc brakes with drilled and slotted rotors up front.
The cabin features black vinyl bucket seats joined by matching door panels. Equipment includes a white-painted roof, floor, roll cage, and steel dashboard as well as a Hurst shifter, vent holes in the door jambs, Simpson racing harnesses, dash-mounted toggle switches, and a push-button starter. The seller notes the ignition switch should be replaced.
The three-spoke steering wheel frames a 10k-rpm tachometer and Stewart Warner gauges displaying, oil pressure, fuel level, oil, and coolant temperature. The car does not have a speedometer or odometer. Total mileage is unknown. The fuel gauge does not work.
The 302ci V8 is said to have been built during current ownership and breathes through a cross-ram intake with dual Holley 4295 four-barrel carburetors. Features include an MSD electronic ignition, AFR aluminum cylinder heads, Moroso plug wires, ceramic-coated headers, and an aluminum radiator. Service in 2021 is said to have consisted of replacing the fuel filter spark plugs and performing an oil change. A 20-gallon aluminum fuel cell is installed. The engine seeps oil.
Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a Muncie M-22 “rock-crusher” four-speed manual transmission and a 12-bolt positraction rear axle with 4.10:1 gears. The rear axle gasket leaks.
