This 1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS coupe is finished in blue over black vinyl upholstery and is powered by a 396ci V8 paired with a Muncie M22 four-speed manual transmission. The car was delivered new to DeNooyer Brothers Chevrolet of Battle Creek, Michigan, and it was purchased by the seller out of Arizona in 2017. Equipment includes a 12-bolt rear end, a Hurst shifter, and a Delco AM radio, as well as a Holley carburetor, aftermarket exhaust headers, front disc brakes, and 14″ SS-style wheels. Refurbishment work completed under prior ownership included a repaint and an interior refresh, while work under current ownership has included a powertrain rebuild and overhaul of the suspension system. This X66 Camaro SS is now offered in Texas with manufacturer’s literature, an NCRS shipping data report, service records, dynamometer test results, spare and removed parts, and a clean Texas title in the seller’s name.
Delivered from the factory in Dusk Blue (51), the body was repainted during the refurbishment performed under prior ownership according to the seller, who notes the quarter panels and floor pans have been replaced. Features include white “hockey stick” side stripes, side mirrors, front and rear spoilers, dual exhaust tips, and SS badging. A ding is noted in the left door skin, and the finish is shown up close in the photo gallery below.
SS-style wheels wear chrome trim rings along with staggered-width 14″ BFGoodrich white-letter tires, and a spare fitted with a Sailun tire is shown in the gallery below. The car is equipped with power-assisted front disc brakes and rear drums, and the suspension has been overhauled under current ownership.
The car was ordered with black custom upholstery (712) covering the front bucket seats and rear bench, and the interior was retrimmed under prior ownership. The car retains a Delco AM radio, and further equipment includes a rosewood steering wheel mounted to a tilt column, a Hurst shifter, woodgrain trim, manually operated windows, and lap belts for the front and rear occupants.
Instrumentation consists of a 120-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and supplementary gauges mounted ahead of the center console. The five-digit odometer indicates approximately 1,800 miles, with actual mileage unknown.
The replacement 396ci V8 was rebuilt in 2017 by Kim Barr Racing Engines of Garland, Texas, and installed by Collin County Customs of McKinney, Texas. Equipment includes a Winters aluminum intake manifold topped with a Holley carburetor, a custom camshaft, JE pistons, hydraulic roller lifters, stainless-steel rocker arms, Winters aluminum cylinder heads, ceramic-coated Hooker headers, chrome valve covers, and a stock-style air intake housing featuring 396 decals. A summary of a 2017 dynamometer test session is shown in the gallery below, and an oil change was completed in preparation for the sale.
The engine stamping includes the digits T0805JD, indicating a 396ci V8 with 375 horsepower produced at the Tonawanda, New York, engine plant on August 5th. Additional casting and stamping photos are provided in the gallery below.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a rebuilt four-speed Muncie M22 “Rock Crusher” manual transmission linked to a 12-bolt rear axle. Additional photos of the underside are presented in the gallery.
