This 1969 Chevrolet Camaro convertible was originally built with the Indy Sport package and is a non-running project equipped with an L78 396ci V8 and a M22 four-speed manual transmission. It was reportedly sold new by Rosenthal Chevrolet of Arlington, Virginia, and later moved to California. Metal repairs and a refinishing in the current black primer were performed during a refurbishment with the prior owner, though the project was not completed and the selling dealer acquired the car from an estate in 2019. Equipment includes a black soft top, a 3.31:1 Posi-traction rear differential, 15″ Rally wheels, a hi-capacity radiator, a tilt steering column, and more as described below. This Z11 Camaro is now offered by the selling dealer with a NCRS shipping data report and clean Pennsylvania title.
The car was previously finished in Dover White (50) as part of the Indy Sport Convertible option, which also featured unique graphics, front and rear spoilers, and a cowl induction hood. The selling dealer states that new quarter panels and front fenders were fitted under previous ownership before the application of black epoxy primer. A black fabric top that shows wear remains fitted and is without a rear window.
Factory 15″ Rally wheels wear Cornell GTS 70 raised white letter tires. The headlamp vacuum actuators are noted as missing missing. The selling dealer states the suspension was overhauled during the refurbishment process, and that the braking system remains.
The interior is fitted with white vinyl seats with houdstooth inserts and orange headrests. The wood-trimmed dashboard remains, along with the window glass. The rear seat cushions, door panels, and console are missing from the car and not included.
A two-spoke steering wheel on a tilt steering column fronts a 120-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and a center-mounted clock. The odometer displays just over 70k miles, though the true mileage is unknown.
The car is equipped with an L78 396ci V8 that was reportedly rebuilt under previous ownership. Chrome valve covers are fitted, along with an intake manifold and a mounted hi-capacity radiator. The Muncie M22 four-speed manual transmission was also stated to be rebuilt and is linked with a 3.31:1 Posi-traction rear differential. The selling dealer states the photos represent the included equipment in the sale, and the car is missing the carburetor, cowl induction air cleaner assembly, alternator, exhaust manifolds, distributor, fan shroud, pulleys, harmonic balancer, and shifter.
The selling dealer has provided close-ups of the engine and transmission numbers. Suffix JH denotes a 375-horsepower 396ci in a manual transmission application. Block casting 3955272 is shown in the gallery below.
The underside was refinished during the project, and additional photos of the underbody and suspension are viewable below.
The cowl tag signifies that the car was built at the Norwood, Ohio assembly plant and was originally finished in Dover White (50) over orange houndstooth (720). The Z11 code indicates that the car was optioned with the Indy Pace Car trim package.
