This 1969 Chevrolet Camaro convertible was purchased by the seller’s father in 2005 and was later modified, reportedly by American Classics of Cotati, California. The build was completed in 2013 and included the installation of a fuel-injected 427ci V8, a Tremec six-speed manual transmission, and a Truetrac limited-slip differential. Additional modifications include a replacement chassis, a repaint in blue, updated suspension components, a four-wheel disc-brake conversion, aftermarket wheels, and updates to the interior. Driven approximately 4k miles since the completion of the build, this Camaro is now offered on behalf of the current owner with period paperwork, some records, and a clean California title in the current owner’s name.
Delivered new in Azure Turquoise (55), the body was repainted in the current blue finish during the refurbishment. Features include a cowl-induction hood, 427 and RS badging, a rear spoiler, and a replacement black convertible top. The finish is shown up close in the photo gallery below.
Staggered-diameter Rallye-style wheels feature a silver finish accented with chrome lips and are fitted with Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires measuring 245/40ZR18 in the front and 325/30ZR19 at the rear. Wilwood disc brakes are fitted at all four corners with six-piston front calipers and four-piston rears.
Black upholstery with coordinated stitching covers the front buckets and the rear bench. Further additions include a padded roll bar, a short shifter, shoulder belts for the front occupants, and an Alpine stereo unit fitted under the rear bench seat. Powered windows are fitted and are operable via the stock door cranks up front, with switches mounted within the center console to operate the rear quarter units.
Photos highlighting the interior materials and finishes are provided in the gallery below. The five-digit odometer shows just over 88k miles, with actual mileage unknown.
The 427ci V8 crate engine was sourced from Mast Motorsports and replaces the factory V8. It is said to feature CNC ported heads as well as a three-piece 102mm intake, and fuel injection. Cooling is from an aluminum radiator equipped with dual electric fans, and a pair of stainless steel long-tube exhaust headers are linked to a 3″ side-exiting exhaust.
Power is routed to the rear wheels via a Tremec T56 Magnum six-speed manual transmission and a Ford 9″ center section with a Truetrac limited-slip differential. Maintenance in 2019 is said to have included a transmission service. Further updates include an independent rear suspension, adjustable coilovers, spindles from a C6 Z06, splined tubular sway bars front and rear, and a carbon fiber driveshaft.
As part of the mechanical refurbishment, the frame was replaced with a custom-fabricated unit from the Roadster Shop.
Materials accompanying the car include remnants of the build sheet, past registrations, and product manuals.
