This 1969 Chevrolet Camaro convertible underwent a refurbishment completed from 2006 to 2008 that involved a repaint, an interior re-trim, and installation of a Ram Jet 350ci V8 crate engine mated to a Tremec five-speed manual transmission. Finished in white with orange stripes, the car features a retrofitted RS-style grille and concealed headlights along with a custom hood, a rear spoiler, and a power-operated white convertible top. It rides on a lowered suspension with Heidts tubular front control arms and is further equipped with rack-and-pinion power steering, power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes, 17″ Rally-look wheels, and a Hotchkis cross-brace and anti-sway bars. Inside, late-model Camaro bucket seats trimmed in orange vinyl and houndstooth cloth are accompanied by a Flaming River billet steering wheel, a Hurst shifter, and a carbon-fiber dash panel. Further equipment includes a limited-slip differential, a stainless-steel fuel tank, Hooker headers, and a dual exhaust system. Acquired by the current owner in 2013, this modified Camaro convertible is now offered on dealer consignment with partial build records and a clean Washington State title.
The car was fitted with a custom hood and a rear spoiler as well as various replacement body panels prior to a repaint in white with orange stripes as part of the aforementioned multi-year build completed under previous ownership. A power-operated white convertible top has been added along with a Rick’s Camaro RS-style grille and concealed headlights from Rick’s Camaro. Further details include RS and SS badging as well as dual side mirrors and chrome bumpers.
The 17″ Rally-look wheels are mounted with 215/55 front and 245/50 rear Falken tires. The car rides on a lowered suspension with Heidts tubular front control arms and front drop spindles and is further equipped with rack-and-pinion power steering as well as a Hotchkis cross-brace and anti-sway bars. Power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes have been added using a kit from Master Power Brakes.
The refurbished cabin houses high-back bucket seats sourced from a 1997 Camaro that have been retrimmed in orange vinyl with houndstooth inserts. Matching upholstery extends to the rear bench, and replacement seatbelts, door panels, and carpets have also been added. Further details include carbon-look trim, an aftermarket digital media receiver, and retrofitted power windows.
A split-spoke billet steering and tilting column from Flaming River are paired with a Hurst shifter and sit ahead of a Covan’s Classic carbon-fiber dash panel. AutoMeter C2 instrumentation consists of 160-mph speedometer, a 10k-rpm odometer, and auxiliary gauges for voltage, fuel level, water temperature, and oil pressure. The digital odometer shows 4,100 miles, which is said to represent the distance driven since completion of the build.
The Ram Jet 350ci V8 crate engine was installed at the beginning of the project in 2006. It is equipped with a Spectre Performance dual-inlet air intake along with an aluminum radiator fitted with an electric puller fan.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Tremec five-speed manual transmission linked with limited-slip differential with 3.42:1 gearing. A hydraulically operated clutch mechanism, an aluminum differential cover, and a stainless-steel fuel tank are also installed along with a custom dual exhaust system with Hooker headers and Flowmaster mufflers.
