This 1969 Chevrolet Camaro convertible is a non-running project that features a GM Performance Parts 427ci V8 mated to a Tremec six-speed manual transmission and a Ford 9″ axle. The current owner acquired the car in 2008, and equipment includes replacement body panels, a cowl induction hood, a Detroit Speed Engineering front subframe and suspension components, polished 18″ Budnik wheels, a Baer big-brake kit, adjustable coilovers, a rack-and-pinion steering rack, a four-link rear suspension, rear subframe connectors, rear wheel tubs, Vintage Air HVAC, later-model Pontiac GTO front seats, and AutoMeter instrumentation. This Camaro convertible project is offered on behalf of the current owner with a GM Performance Certificate of Authenticity, uninstalled parts, a removed trim tag, refurbishment photos, and a clean Pennsylvania title in the current owner’s name.
The body is finished in primer and the seller states that the nose panel, fenders, doors, quarter panels, floor pans, trunk floor, rear wheel tubs, and body mounts have been replaced. Additional exterior details include a cowl induction hood with Ringbrothers billet aluminum hinges, unfinished bumpers, an integrated rear spoiler, Marquez Design billet tail light bezels, and rectangular dual exhaust outlets exiting through the rear valance. The windshield, side glass, convertible top upholstery, windshield wipers, mirrors, door handles, and trim have been removed.
Staggered-width 18″ Budnik alloy wheels are mounted with 275/35 and 335/30 BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW tires. The brakes and suspension have been modified and are said to feature the following components:
- Baer Extreme Plus big brake kit with 6-piston monoblock calipers and 14″ rotors
- DSE 9″ brake booster and aluminum master cylinder
- Lokar parking cables and handle
- DSE Hydroformed front subframe
- DSE tubular front control arms
- DSE C6-style spindles
- Quick-ratio rack-and-pinion steering rack
- Stainless-steel steering shaft with Borgeson universal joints
- DSE adjustable coilovers with Koni dampers
- Four-link rear suspension with DSE rear subframe connectors
The brake calipers are uninstalled and will accompany the car.
The interior is partially stripped and is equipped with later-model Pontiac GTO-sourced front bucket seats, a color-coordinated dash pad over a steel dashboard, polished aluminum dash vents, and a Vintage Air air conditioning system. The power seat motors are disconnected, and the headrests have been removed.
A two-spoke steering wheel is mounted to an Ididit steering column, and AutoMeter instrumentation is housed in a Detroit Speed Engineering dash insert and includes a 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The horn button is missing from the steering wheel, and the instrumentation is disconnected. True mileage is unknown.
The GM Performance Parts Anniversary 427ci V8 was acquired in 2008 and is #21 of 427 units produced. Additional equipment includes tubular headers and a Be Cool aluminum radiator with Spal electric fans. The engine currently does not run and is linked to a Tremec six-speed manual transmission and a Ford 9″ rear end said to be fitted with a Detroit Truetrac limited-slip differential, 3.55:1 gears, and Moser axles. Further driveline modifications include a McLeod hydraulic clutch and pressure plate, a Lakewood scatter shield, and a custom-built driveshaft.
