This 1969 Chevrolet Camaro was acquired by the seller’s husband in 1997, and a refurbishment the following year included a repaint in red with white stripes over a reupholstered white vinyl interior and the installation of a replacement 427ci V8. Equipment includes a rebuilt three-speed automatic transmission, a white convertible top, a cowl-induction hood, a rear spoiler, an Edelbrock intake manifold and carburetor, Hooker headers, and a dual exhaust system as well as power-assisted steering and brakes. Service in preparation for the sale is said to have included performing a tune-up and replacing the battery. This Camaro is now offered on consignment by the selling dealer in Canada with Alberta registration.
The car was refinished in red with white stripes and features a power-operated white convertible top, a reproduction cowl-induction hood, replacement dual chrome mirrors, rocker-panel trim, chrome bumpers, and a rear spoiler as well as “SS” and “427” badging. Blemishes include cracks, chips, scratches, and scrapes, photos of which can be viewed in the photo gallery.
Rally-style 15″ wheels wearing chrome trim rings and hubcaps are wrapped in BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires that are noted by the selling dealer to show tread wear. Work on the steering and suspension systems in 1998 included replacing the tie rods, ball joints, front coil springs, rear leaf springs, and spring shackles as well as the idler and Pitman arms. Front and rear sway bars were installed at that time, as were polyurethane bushings.
The front bucket and rear bench seats were fitted with replacement springs and foam, and were reupholstered in white vinyl during the refurbishment. Features include matching door panels and a contrasting black dash pad and carpeting as well as a bucket-handle shifter, a Panasonic CD receiver, and woodgrain appliques on the lower dashboard and center console.
The replacement three-spoke steering wheel fronts instrumentation consisting of a 120-mph speedometer and a fuel-level gauge as well as a column-mounted AutoMeter tachometer and aftermarket oil-pressure and coolant-temperature gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 91k miles, 65k of which were driven under current ownership. True mileage is unknown.
A rebuild of the 427ci V8 in 1998 included boring and honing the cylinders .040″-over and replacing the pistons, valves, valve springs, rocker arms, lifters, and fuel pump as well as the main, camshaft, and rod bearings. Additional work consisted of reconditioning and aligning the connecting rods, installing ARP rod bolts, resurfacing the block, and grinding and polishing the crankshaft. The engine breathes through an Edelbrock Performer RPM intake manifold topped by a 750cfm Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor as well as Hooker Super Competition long-tube headers flowing into a dual exhaust system. The radiator was refurbished in 2012, and service in 2022 is said to have included a tune-up and replacement of the battery.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission that was reportedly rebuilt in the 1990s.
