This 1968 Chevrolet Nova SS was delivered new to Reedman Motors of Levittown, Pennsylvania and is said to have competed in drag racing events through the early 1970s. The car was parked outside for a number of years and underwent a body-off refurbishment between 2005 and 2006 before being acquired by the seller around seven years ago. It is powered by a 350ci L48 V8 paired with a four-speed manual transmission and is finished in metallic green over Ash Gold vinyl upholstery. Features include a black vinyl roof, front bucket seats, a Hurst shifter, front disc brakes, and body-color steel wheels with chrome hubcaps. This Nova SS is being offered in Florida with a build sheet, a Protect-O-Plate, NCRS Shipping Data report, manufacturer’s literature, SS-branded hubcaps, 14″ Super Sport wheels and tires, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.
Finished from the factory in Ash Gold (G), the body was removed from the frame and repainted in the mid-2000s. Exterior details include a black vinyl roof, SS badging, and chrome bumpers and trim. Areas of paint bubbling are pointed out in the gallery below, and the seller notes pitting in the brightwork.
Body-color steel wheels feature chrome hubcaps and are mounted with Firestone white-letter tires. A full-size spare is found in the trunk, and a set of SS-branded hubcaps and 14″ Super Sport wheels mounted with BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires will accompany the vehicle. Braking is through front discs and rear drums. Drag bars have been affixed to the rear suspension.
The cabin houses bucket seats and a rear bench trimmed in Ash Gold vinyl upholstery along with a color-coordinated dashboard, door panels, carpets, and rubber floor mats. Features include a center console, a Hurst shifter, push-button AM radio, and lap belts for front occupants.
A three-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of a column-mounted Sunpro 8k-rpm tachometer, a horizontal 120-mph speedometer, and auxiliary displays. A trio of AutoMeter gauges under the dash monitor oil pressure, coolant temperature, and voltage. The five-digit odometer shows approximately 89k miles, around 400 of which have been added during current ownership. Total mileage is unknown. A loose ground wire in the dash was repaired in preparation for the sale.
The 350ci L48 V8 is equipped with a single carburetor, a chrome air cleaner and valve covers, a dual exhaust system, and aftermarket headers. Work in March 2023 included replacing the oil pan seal and performing an oil change.
The engine block stamping is shown above.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission. The transmission seal was replaced in preparation for the sale. Additional underbody photos are provided in the gallery.
The build sheet is shown above, and the Protect-O-Plate can be seen in the gallery, along with the NCRS Shipping Data Report and photos taken prior to and during the refurbishment.
