This 1968 Chevrolet Impala 327 SS was purchased new by the seller’s uncle and passed through his aunt and father before landing in his hands in June 2016. Its small-block V8 has been rebuilt and bumped up to 347ci and now runs an Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor, intake manifold, and dual exhaust. The car was also given a repaint in a non-original but closely matched color and features redone interior upholstery and newer tires. Said to have been maintained well and garage stored when not driven, this Impala is now being offered with 144k accumulated miles and a clean California title in the seller’s name.
The car was repainted with a non-stock shade of light green, but it appears to be a close approximation to Chevrolet’s Mountain Green that was offered at the time. A number of imperfections around the bodywork are noted by the seller and can be viewed in additional gallery photos.
The chrome bumpers show a few light blemishes and minor dings, the left tail fin cap has some cracking and paint damage, and a spot of rust is noted and photographed on the passenger side rocker panel. A matched set of Prestige whitewall tires are about three years old and fitted over steel wheels with correct covers.
The two-tone interior sports NOS seat upholstery with reportedly original carpeting and headliner. A few noted issues include a worn driver’s armrest, some damage on the lower door trim, a crack in the dashboard, and a cracked steering wheel. The left rear window also doesn’t roll down properly and the fuel gauge is not functioning. An A/C conversion to R134 was performed and the system is said to blow cold. 44k miles are indicated and the seller says the odometer has rolled over once.
The rear sidewalls show some loose fabric but the seats are in good condition.
The stock 327 was given a .20 overbore and now runs an Edelbrock 1406 four-barrel carburetor, intake manifold, and air cleaner. Power is routed through a TH400 3-speed automatic out to the rear wheels and a newer Edelbrock dual exhaust helps the motor breathe a little easier. The most recent service was completed roughly 1,200 miles ago and included a full fluid change with a new oil and fuel filter and starter motor rebuild. The seller notes a very small oil leak originating from the rear of the pan.
