This 1968 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 is a stock example finished in British Green over black. Power is provided by a 302 cubic inch V8 paired with a Muncie 4-speed manual transmission, driving the rear wheels via a Positraction rear end. This is a genuine Z/28 as confirmed by a Jerry MacNeish report, and the seller estimates he is the fourth or fifth owner and acquired the car two years showing 60k on the odometer. He has added 2,100 miles in that time, using it primarily as a weekend driver most recently on a 200-mile roundtrip to the Spring Carlisle show. This 1968 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 is being offered with the original dealer order form, receipts from current ownership, a Jerry MacNeish Camaro report, NCRS shipping report, and a clean Pennsylvania title in the seller’s name.
The car was repainted in British Green (Paint Code ZZ) prior to the seller’s acquisition, and can be seen in varying lighting conditions in the gallery below. The MacNeish report describes the paint as “correct British green color” and the stripe position as “very good.” Paint flaws around the rear window were corrected under the seller’s ownership.
Suspension remains in stock condition, and the brake system utilizes power discs up front and drums out back. 1968 Z/28’s were fitted with 12-bolt positraction rear differentials, and this example is optioned with 4.10:1 gears. 15″ Steel Rally wheels wear BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires.
Black interior (Trim Code 712) features bucket seats and retains an optioned AM/FM Delco radio. A Hurst shifter is installed, and the original unit is also included. Both the dashpad and carpeting are noted to have been replaced, and the 62k miles showing are believed to be correct.
The 302 cubic inch V8 was created in part to meet the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) Trans-Am Series road racing rules limiting engine displacement to 305.1 cu in (5.0 L). Equipped with a forged crankshaft, solid lifters, and an 11.0:1 compression ratio, the 302 was originally rated at 290 horsepower. Within the last year, the oil/filter have been changed, and a tune-up has been performed.
Additional images of the undercarriage are provided in the gallery.
The MacNeish report indicates a factory-built Z/28 with original floor pans, transmission, and rear axle. An inconsistency in the engine stamping prevents the report from indicating that it is original to the car. Further detailed documentation is available in the gallery.
The start-up and walk-around video has been provided by the seller.
