This 1968 Chevrolet Camaro was acquired by the seller in 2016 and subsequent work consisted of repainting the body in Marina Blue with black stripes and installing the replacement 383ci V8, Turbo 350 three-speed automatic transmission, and Currie 9-inch Positraction rear axle as well as replacing suspension, brake, and interior components. Features include power steering, Wilwood four-wheel disc brakes, staggered Rally-style wheels, a cowl hood, an American Autowire wiring harness, MSD HEI ignition, and an Edelbrock intake manifold and four-barrel carburetor as well as OER drop spindles, control arms, and springs. This Camaro is now offered with a clean Nebraska title in the seller’s name.
The body was repainted in Marina Blue with black stripes under current ownership. Features include a modified front end, a steel cowl hood, shaved fender lights, front and rear spoilers, and a chrome rear bumper. The seller notes scratches on the rear window.
The Rally-style wheels wear chrome center caps and are mounted with Hankook Ventus V12 Evo2 tires measuring 245/45 ZR17 up front and 275/40 ZR18 out back. The car is equipped with rack and pinion steering, a Tuff Stuff billet power steering pump, Monroe shock absorbers, and an OER steering linkage, 2″ drop spindles, upper and lower control arms, and springs. Braking is handled by unassisted Wilwood four-piston front and rear calipers over drilled and slotted rotors.
The cabin features front bucket seats and a rear bench upholstered in black vinyl with houndstooth cloth inserts. Equipment includes a Painless wiring harness, a B&M Magnum Grip shifter, a 10-speaker audio system, subwoofers, and a Pioneer touchscreen infotainment system. Sound-deadening material is said to have been installed on the roof, floor, trunk, and doors, and the dash pad, weatherstripping, vents, sun visors, door panels, and headliner were reportedly replaced under current ownership. The fuel filler has been relocated inside the trunk.
The wood steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and battery voltage. The five-digit mechanical odometer shows 1,700 miles. Total mileage is unknown.
The replacement 383ci V8 was reportedly rebuilt under current ownership and features ported double-hump cylinder heads, Dart valve guides, Manley cylinder head bolts, a Comp Cams Hi Energy camshaft, a Moroso oil pan, a Melling high-flow oil pump, a Cloyes timing chain, MSD HEI ignition, Taylor ignition wires, Accel spark plugs, and a high-volume water pump. A finned billet air cleaner assembly and valve covers along with an OER copper radiator and fuel tank have been installed. The engine seeps oil, and battery acid dripped onto the battery tray and right inner fender.
Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a Currie 9-inch rear axle with a Positraction differential and 3.50:1 gearing. The transmission is reportedly fitted with a stage 2 Trans Go shift kit and strengthened internals. A dual exhaust system with QTP electronic cut-outs and Flowmaster Hushpower 2 mufflers has been installed.
