This 1968 Chevrolet Camaro is finished in copper over black and powered by a replacement 496ci V8 paired with a Tremec TKO 600 five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential with 4.10:1 gearing. Features include a Holley Sniper X-Flow EFI system, Speedtech Performance tubular front control arms and rear suspension, Wilwood four-wheel disc brakes, QA1 adjustable coilovers, and American Racing wheels as well as TMI front bucket seats, Vintage Air climate control, a retro-style radio, shaved door handles and drip rails, and a billet grille. The car was modified during previous ownership by Karl Performance of Des Moines, Iowa and subsequently acquired by the owner in 2019. This Camaro is offered by the seller on behalf of the owner with refurbishment records, dyno sheets, and Connecticut registration.
The car is said to have been stripped and refinished in copper during previous ownership. Features include a cowl hood, billet grille, front and rear spoilers, chrome bumpers and mirrors, shaved door handles and drip rails, remote door poppers, tinted windows, and an SS-branded fuel filler door.
The staggered five-spoke American Racing wheels are mounted with Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires measuring 245/40/18 up front and 335/30/20 out back. Equipment includes mini tubs, Speedtech Performance tubular front control arms and rear suspension, QA1 adjustable coilovers, and subframe connectors. Stopping power is provided by Wilwood disc brakes with drilled and slotted rotors. The body mounts and tires are said to have been replaced in 2021.
The cabin features TMI front bucket seats and a rear bench upholstered in black vinyl with faux-suede inserts. Features include a full-length center console, Hurst shifter, tilt steering column, polished door sills, Vintage Air climate control, and a retro-style digital stereo.
The displacement on the replacement 454ci engine was increased to 496ci V8 during previous ownership by JR Motorsports of Ankeny, Iowa. Service has included installing a hydraulic Comp Cams camshaft, Scat crankshaft and rods, JE forged pistons, and Dart Pro 1 aluminum cylinder heads. Additional features include a Holley Sniper X-Flow EFI system, MSD electronic ignition, a March Performance billet serpentine drive, a Powermaster mini starter, and a Griffin Performance aluminum radiator. Dyno sheets from 2016 are shown in the gallery. Maintenance in 2021 reportedly consisted of replacing the water pump gasket, serpentine belts, valve cover gaskets, and spark plugs.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed Tremec TKO 600 manual transmission and a narrowed nine-inch rear axle with a limited-slip differential and 4.10:1 gearing. The transmission is said to have been upgraded with a McLeod RST twin-disc clutch, and an aluminum driveshaft is installed. The transmission fluid and differential fluid were changed in 2021.
The car does not have a title, as it is registered in a state that does not issue titles for a vehicle of its age. It is being offered on Connecticut registration. The images in the gallery were taken in November 2021.
