This 1968 Chevrolet Camaro coupe is a modified example that was purchased by the seller in 1997 and reportedly remained in storage before modification and refurbishment began in mid-2019. Refinished in silver over black vinyl, the car is powered by a 5.3-liter LM7 V8 mated to a 4L60E four-speed automatic transmission. Additional work performed under current ownership included powdercoating the frame and rear end, lowering the suspension with front coilovers and replacement rear shocks, adding disc brakes with slotted and drilled rotors all around, installing a Vintage Air air-conditioning system, and adding Dakota Digital gauges. This modified first-generation Camaro is offered with refurbishment photos and a clean Kentucky title in the seller’s name.
The body was removed from the frame and stripped prior to being repainted in PPG Deltron Switchblade Silver Metallic. Replacement sheetmetal includes the front fenders, inner fenders, quarter panels, floor pans, and cowl-induction hood. LSX badging has been added to the front grille and the rear panel.
Chrome-finished 18″ five-spoke wheels are wrapped in 255/40 Kumho Ecsta LE Sport tires. The Right Stuff disc brakes with red-painted calipers over slotted and drilled rotors are fitted at all four corners, and the suspension has been lowered two inches with QA1 adjustable coilovers up front and replacement Bilstein shocks out back.
The interior is upholstered in black vinyl with matching door panels and carpeting, and the black-over-silver dashboard sits over a black center console with woodgrain trim. Amenities include a Vintage Air air-conditioning system and front lap belts.
A three-spoke steering wheel with an SS horn button fronts Dakota Digital instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer. The odometer displays 400 miles, all of which have been added since the refurbishment was completed. Total mileage is unknown.
The 5.3-liter LM7 V8 is said to have been installed using an American Auto Wire wiring harness and a PSI Conversions engine harness. The ECU was tuned in April 2021 in preparation for the sale.
Power is routed to the rear wheels via a 4L60E four-speed automatic transmission. The frame was sandblasted prior to powdercoating, and the underbody was finished in PPG Switchblade Silver acrylic lacquer while on a rotisserie. Dual Dynomax mufflers that terminate before the rear axle are shown above, and additional photos of the underbody are provided in the gallery below.
