This 1968 Chevrolet Camaro RS/SS coupe was delivered new to Modern Chevrolet in Honaker Virginia and was acquired by the seller in 2022 from the daughter of the reported original owner. Subsequent work consisted of replacing a starter solenoid, belts, hoses, front brake drums, vacuum actuators, valve cover gaskets, engine mounts, transmission mounts, spark plugs, and fuel sending unit. The car is finished in green over black and houndstooth upholstery and powered by a 396ci L34 V8 mated with a TH400 three-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential. Equipment includes a black vinyl top, a black grille, a Super Sport hood, concealed headlamps, a white nose stripe, power steering and brakes, 14″ steel wheels, mag-style wheel covers, faux woodgrain interior trim, and a push-button Delco AM radio. This Camaro is offered with manufacturer’s literature, a Protect-O-Plate, a sales booklet, a spare alternator, and transferrable New York registration.
The body is finished in British Green with a white nose stripe and is said to have been repainted under previous ownership. Features include a black vinyl roof, white side stripes, bright finished rocker trim, concealed headlamps, wheel arch moldings, a Super Sport hood, a black grille, chrome bumpers, and a dual-outlet exhaust that exits behind the rear wheels. The seller notes that the vinyl top and rear quarter panels were replaced under previous ownership. The vacuum actuators and hoses for the hideaway headlamps are said to have been replaced in 2022.
The 14″ steel wheels wear N96 mag-style wheel covers and are mounted with 215/70 Cooper Cobra Radial G/T white-letter tires. The car is equipped with power steering, and braking is handled by power-assisted drums at all four corners. The front drums are said to have been replaced in 2022.
The cabin features front bucket seats and a rear bench upholstered in black vinyl with cloth houndstooth inserts. Equipment includes a center console, dual-gate shifter, faux woodgrain trim, a heater and defroster, SS 396-branded floor mats, and a push-button Delco AM radio.
The three-spoke steering wheel frames a 120-mph speedometer and a Tic-Toc-Tach. Additional auxiliary gauges monitoring battery charge, coolant temperature, fuel level, and oil pressure are mounted in the center console ahead of the shifter. The five-digit odometer shows 70k miles, approximately 1k of which have been added under current ownership.
The 396ci L34 V8 is equipped with a four-barrel carburetor and was factory rated at 350 horsepower and 415 lb-ft of torque. The positive battery cable, starter solenoid, fan belt, radiator hoses, engine mounts, valve cover gaskets, spark plugs, and battery cable are said to have been replaced in 2022.
The engine stamping shows serial number 18N474674 as well as code MR. Additional component stamp images are shown in the gallery.
Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a TH400 three-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential. Corrosion is visible on suspension and exhaust system components. The transmission mount is said to have been replaced in 2022.
Manufacturer’s literature, a Protect-O-Plate, a spare alternator, and a sales booklet are included in the sale.
The car does not have a title, as it is registered in a state that does not issue titles for vehicles of its age. It is being sold on its transferrable New York registration.
