This 1968 Chevrolet Camaro is a modified example that is powered by a 418ci LS3 V8 fitted with a Whipple supercharger, Comp Cams camshaft, and Sanderson headers. Shifting is through a Tremec six-speed manual transmission, which is linked with a Moser M9 rear axle with an Eaton Detroit Truetrac differential. The body has been refinished in metallic gray with matching trim and a rear spoiler, while the black interior features leather sport seats, air conditioning, Dakota Digital instrumentation, and a vintage-style head unit. The car rides on staggered 18″ Billet Specialties wheels with a Heidt’s Pro-G front subframe and four-link rear suspension with coilovers. Additional modifications include an aluminum radiator, an Ididit steering column, four-wheel Wilwood disc brakes, and a custom stainless steel exhaust with MagnaFlow mufflers. This modified Camaro is now offered by the seller on behalf of its current owner with a binder of receipts and build documentation and a clean California title.
The body was refinished in its current shade of metallic gray with a black grille and tail light panel by Robinson Restoration of Windsor, Colorado. Modifications include a cowl-induction hood, shaved front bumper, a black front lip spoiler, tinted windows, and a color-matched rear bumper, decklid spoiler, and side mirrors. Photos in the gallery below show the paint and body up close.
The 18″ Billet Specialties GTR Concave Pro Touring wheels measure 9″ wide up front and 12″ wide at the rear and wear Nitto NT555R drag radial tires. The car rides on a Heidt’s Pro-G front subframe with 2″ drop spindles, a Heidt’s four-link rear suspension, and a front sway bar, along with coilovers at each corner. The braking system includes a Hydratech booster along with a Wilwood master cylinder, calipers, and drilled and slotted rotors.
The cabin features black leather seats from a Pontiac GTO along with matching aftermarket door panels and replacement carpets. Amenities include a vintage-style head unit, LED lighting, and a Vintage Air air conditioning system.
A leather-wrapped Billet Specialties Vintec steering wheel mounted on an Ididit column fronts Dakota Digital instrumentation housed in a gray-painted dash. The digital odometer reads approximately 2k miles, though actual chassis mileage is unknown. Additional instruments are located on the A-pillar.
The LS3 V8 was reportedly sourced from a 2013 Camaro SS with 1k miles and was bored and stroked to 418ci by Total Precision Engines of LaPorte, Colorado. A Whipple Twin-Screw supercharger with 8 PSI of boost has been added, along with the following components:
- Comp Cams LSR Series hydraulic camshaft
- Aeromotive Dual Phantom fuel pump
- Aluminum radiator
- Dakota Digital fan controller
- My-EFI engine wiring harness
- American Autowire body wiring harness
- Sanderson ceramic coated long-tube headers
- 3″ stainless steel exhaust by Muscle Tones Exhaust of Windsor, Colorado
- MagnaFlow stainless steel mufflers
The dyno graph from May 2017 indicates a peak output of 701 horsepower and 670 lb-ft of torque.
The Tremec TR-6060 six-speed manual transmission is said to have also come from the same donor Camaro SS and has been fitted with a McLeod RST Street twin-disc clutch. Power is delivered through a custom driveshaft from Northern Colorado Driveline Services and a Moser M9 9″ rear end with 35-spline axles, an Eaton Detroit Truetrac differential, and 3.70:1 gearing. Additional underbody photos are provided in the gallery, and a start-up and engine idle video is shown below.
