This 1967 Chevrolet Impala SS is a white-over-black convertible that was acquired by the seller in May 2014, and subsequent work involved Chip’s Automotive of Baltimore, Maryland rebuilding and overboring the replacement big-block V8 to displace 408ci as well as overhauling the three-speed automatic transmission. The car is equipped with a black power-operated soft top, 15″ Rally-style wheels, power steering, power-assisted brakes, a 12-bolt rear axle, a polished air cleaner and valve covers, an Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor, an aluminum radiator, a dual exhaust system, a center console, front Strato bucket seats, and a Custom Autosound digital stereo. This Impala SS convertible shows 94k miles and is now offered with a clean Maryland title in the seller’s name.
The car left the factory finished in Ermine White and is said to have been repainted under previous ownership. Exterior details include a black power-operated soft top, SS 396 badging, quad headlamps, and chrome bumpers. The windshield wipers are inoperative, and corrosion is noted on the fenders and trunk lid.
Silver-finished 15″ Rally wheels wear chrome hubcaps and trim rings and are mounted with 245/60 front and 275/60 rear Lee Radial G/T Turbo Action white-letter tires, which are older and in need of replacement according to the seller. The car is equipped with power steering, and braking is handled by power-assisted drums. A leak is noted from the power steering system.
The front Strato bucket seats and rear bench seat are upholstered in black vinyl and accompanied by a color-coordinated dashboard, door panels, and carpeting. Equipment includes a center console, a Custom Autosound digital stereo, a heater and defroster, and bowtie-logo rubber floor mats. The car was previously equipped with power windows that have since been removed.
The aftermarket steering wheel fronts a 120-mph speedometer as well as an inoperative clock and fuel-level gauge. The five-digit odometer shows 94k miles, less than 1k miles of which were added under current ownership.
According to the seller, the replacement 402ci V8 was reportedly sourced from a 1971 Chevrolet and installed in place of the factory small-block V8. The engine was bored to an increased displacement of 408ci by Chip’s Automotive of Baltimore, Maryland, in August 2023, and the alternator, water pump, battery, motor mounts, and transmission mount were replaced at the same time. Equipment includes an Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor, a polished 396 Turbo-Jet air cleaner and valve covers, and an aluminum radiator. The seller notes a rough idle.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a TH400 three-speed automatic transmission that was overhauled in May 2023 by Bill & Earl’s Automotive of Baltimore, Maryland, and installed with a replacement torque converter. The car is equipped with a 12-bolt rear axle and a dual exhaust system.
