This 1967 Chevrolet Camaro was built at the Norwood, Ohio plant on March 17, 1967 and is one of a relative handful of Festival Pace Car convertibles produced for the Indianapolis 500 the following May. Finished in Ermine White with blue and gold graphics over a Bright Blue interior, the car is powered by a replacement 350ci V8 paired with a two-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes a white soft top, Rally Sport and Super Sport equipment packages, bucket seats, power steering, a center console, and an AM radio. The seller acquired the car as a non-running project in 2014 from its previous owner of around 27 years, and a subsequent multi-year rotisserie refurbishment was completed in 2018. This Camaro Pace Car is now being offered with an NCRS Shipping Data Report, refurbishment photos and records, a top boot, and a clean Tennessee title in the seller’s name.
The body was finished from the factory in Ermine White (0-1) and received a body-off repaint during current ownership along with replacement Indianapolis 500 Pace Car graphics and Marina Blue nose and pinstripes. Bodywork and rust repair was performed by Kiwi Classics and Customs of Franklin, Tennessee, with work including a replacement trunk pan, tail panel, rear quarter panels, wheel housings, and trunk drain channels. Patch panels were also added to the floor, a replacement white soft top was installed, and the trim and emblems were re-chromed or replaced where necessary. Additional equipment includes Rally Sport-specific hideaway headlights, Super Sport hood louvers, dual exhaust outlets, and a blue top boot.
Steel 14″ Rally Sport wheels wear 1967-specific center caps, polished beauty rings, and D-70-14 Firestone Wide Oval Redline tires. The four-piston front disc and rear drum brakes were overhauled during the refurbishment, and the brake booster, master cylinder, proportioning valve, and lines were replaced. Suspension refreshment is said to have included replacing the tie rods, ball joints, bushings, and shocks. The car also has power steering and the Rally Sport wheel stamping can be seen in the gallery.
The front Custom Bucket seats (732-Z) and rear bench were fitted with replacement foam and Bright Blue vinyl (R) covers with white accents. The door panels, carpets, floor mats, dash pad, sun visors, and seat belts are also said to have been replaced during the refurbishment, while the center console with gauge option package and steering wheel were reconditioned. Additional equipment includes a floor shifter, an AM radio, and a center console.
A three-spoke steering wheel frames a 120-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and a five-digit odometer showing 83k miles, approximately 300 of which have been added by the seller since the refurbishment was completed. Total mileage is unknown.
The replacement 350ci L48 V8 was overhauled by Green Light Performance in 2014, and additional work included installing an American Autowire wiring harness, a Gardner reproduction exhaust system, and a replacement fuel tank, sending unit, and lines. Invoices are provided in the gallery, along with images of the engine and cylinder head casting numbers.
Power is transferred to the rear wheels through a Powerglide two-speed automatic transmission that was overhauled and reportedly fitted with a reconditioned torque converter. The 12-bolt Positraction rear end was also refreshed with replacement bearings in 2017 by Davis Auto Services of Franklin, Tennessee, and additional work included installing a traction bar, refurbishing the driveshaft, and replacing the u-joints. Further images of the underside are provided in the gallery, along with transmission stamping and rear end casting numbers.
