This 1966 Chevrolet Nova SS has spent over 22 years with the seller, during which time refurbishment and modifications included a repaint in yellow as well as installation of a non-original 377ci V8 and Muncie 4-speed manual gearbox. Additional features include a Ford 9″ differential with 3.70:1 gears and Trac Lock LSD, dual-circuit 4-wheel disc brakes, a fiberglass hood, wheel well headers, a fuel cell, and more. This Nova is offered with parts receipts, an invoice from the engine machine work, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.
The current yellow paint was applied 17 years ago. A fuel cell is located in the trunk and the original tank is included. Bubbles in the finish are noted on the roof and can be seen in greater detail in the gallery. Blue California license plates show registration through June 2019.
The video above provides a walk around and brief interior tour with the engine idling. Rally wheels wear flat-disc center caps and 15″ BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires. The braking system has been upgraded to a dual-circuit setup with discs at all four corners, and sway bars are installed in front and rear.
The black vinyl interior features bucket seats with vintage motorsport-style lap belts, an SS console, and nylon loop carpeting. A 3-spoke steering wheel fronts an inoperative horizontal-sweep speedometer, while a trio of secondary gauges and a tachometer are mounted in the center. The 5-digit odometer shows 55k miles, but is disconnected and true mileage is unknown.
The 377ci V8 was built using a GM 400ci small bloc, 350ci steel crankshaft, Dart cast cylinder heads, ARP head bolts, a Comp Cams 246 camshaft, and roller rockers. Induction is from a Holley 4150 carburetor with Barry Grant bowls and metering blocks capping an Edelbrock intake and supplied by an electric fuel pump. Exhaust is via headers exiting through the wheel wells, and an Accel HEI distributor delivers spark.
Power is sent rearward via Weber aluminum flywheel, Zoom clutch, and Muncie M21 4-speed transmission to a Ford 9″ Trac Lock differential with 3.70:1 gearing. A new set of 4.10:1 gears is also included in the sale. Additional undercarriage photos are available in the gallery.
