This 1966 Chevrolet Chevy II Nova SS is a yellow-over-black coupe that was acquired by the seller in 2011 and subsequently refurbished. It is powered by a 383ci stroker V8 that was reportedly assembled with a forged crankshaft, pistons, and connecting rods along with a hydraulic roller camshaft, Dart cylinder heads, a Holley carburetor, MSD ignition, and an aluminum radiator with electric fans. Power is routed through a Coan Racing three-speed automatic transmission and a 12-bolt rear axle with an Eaton differential and 3.73:1 gears. Equipment includes a cowl induction hood, front disc brakes, 15″ Weld wheels, Mickey Thompson rear tires, Hooker headers, electric exhaust cutouts, an electric fuel pump, subframe connectors, and AutoMeter instrumentation. This Nova SS is now offered with a clean California title in the seller’s name.
The car was refinished in yellow and features a cowl induction hood, Super Sport trim and badges, an aluminum grille and taillight panel, and chrome bumpers.
Weld Racing 15″ wheels are mounted with Hercules Roadtour Connect tires up front along with 235/60 Mickey Thompson ET Street rubber out back. Stopping power is provided by front disc and rear drum brakes. The car is equipped with subframe connectors, traction bars, and revised leaf springs.
The front bucket seats and rear bench are upholstered in black vinyl, and sound-deadening material is said to have been applied beneath the replacement carpets. The radio does not work.
The replacement steering wheel fronts an AutoMeter Monster tachometer with a shift light as well as a horizontal-sweep 120-mph speedometer, an analog clock, and a fuel-level gauge. Ancillary readouts for water temperature, oil pressure, and voltage are mounted below the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 37k miles, approximately 3k of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The 383ci stroker V8 was installed in 2010 according to the seller, and it was reportedly assembled with a forged crankshaft, Eagle H-beam connecting rods, and forged pistons with chromoly rings. The engine is further equipped with a Holley carburetor, Dart cylinder heads, a hydraulic roller camshaft, MSD ignition, and an aluminum radiator with dual SPAL fans. The battery was relocated to the trunk and the fuel tank is fitted with a high-volume electric pump.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a TH350 three-speed automatic transmission that was reportedly assembled by Coan Racing of Kokomo, Indiana, and equipped with a fluid cooler and a 3,500-rpm stall-speed torque converter. The 12-bolt rear axle is equipped with an Eaton limited-slip differential and 3.73:1 gears. Hooker headers flow to a 3″ dual exhaust system with electric cutouts and slash-cut stainless steel finishers.
