This 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu convertible was acquired by the seller’s grandfather in 1993 and spent a period of time in storage before being inherited by the seller’s parents in May 2015. Mechanical refurbishment work performed in 2022 included rebuilding the brakes, refinishing the dashboard, replacing the distributor and auxiliary gauges, and installing a digital AM/FM stereo. The car is finished in white over red upholstery, and power is provided by a 327ci V8 mated to a four-speed manual transmission. Additional equipment includes a power-operated black convertible top, 14″ steel wheels, power steering, quad headlights, front bucket seats, and a heater. This Chevelle Malibu convertible is now offered by the seller on behalf of their parents with a clean California title.
The body left the factory finished in Ermine White (C), and chrome trim adorns the bumpers, grille, wheel arches, and rocker panels. Exterior features include a power-operated black convertible top, a red boot cover, quad headlights, Malibu and 327 badging, a driver-side mirror, and a dual exhaust system with oblong outlets. Images displaying dents on the right quarter panel along with other paint and body imperfections are provided in the gallery.
The 14″ steel wheels wear 235/60 Kelly Charger Radial white-letter tires that approximately 30 years old according to the seller. The car is equipped with power steering, and the four-wheel drum brakes were rebuilt under current ownership in 2022.
The front bucket and rear bench seats left the factory upholstered in red and are complimented by a color-coordinated dashboard, door panels, and carpets. Interior amenities include a floor-mounted shifter, lap belts for the front occupants, a heater, black floor mats up front, and a digital AM/FM stereo wired to component speakers sitting on the rear bench seat. The stereo was installed and the dashboard was refinished using replacement plastic trim and bright accents under current ownership in 2022. The two-spoke steering wheel fronts a replacement gauge surround housing a 100-mph speedometer in addition to replacement auxiliary readouts for fuel level, battery status, coolant temperature, and oil pressure. The five-digit odometer shows 56k miles, approximately 150 of which have been added under the family’s ownership.
The 327ci V8 features a four-barrel carburetor, and an aluminum radiator has been installed. An aftermarket electronic distributor was installed under current ownership in 2022, and the seller notes that it interferes with the installation of the air cleaner.
