This 1965 Chevrolet Impala SS is finished in black over black and powered by a replacement 496ci V8 paired with a TH400 three-speed automatic transmission. Features include an Edelbrock intake manifold, four-barrel carburetor, electronic ignition, dual exhaust system, GM Performance aluminum cylinder heads, tubular headers, power front disc brakes, 15″ American Racing wheels, tinted windows, and a push-button stereo. The car was acquired by the seller in 2018 and subsequent work consisted of brake service in 2020 and an oil change in 2021. This Impala SS is offered with a clean California title in the seller’s name.
The car is said to have been repainted in black during previous ownership. Features include a pillarless roof design with retractable side windows, dual mirrors, chrome bumpers, quad headlamps, tinted windows, 396 and Super Sport badging, and a dual-outlet exhaust that exits behind the rear wheels.
The 15″ mag-style American Racing wheels are mounted with 245/60 BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires up front and Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 255/70 tires out back. The car is equipped with power-assisted front disc brakes and rear drums. A brake service is said to have been performed in 2020, and there is play in the steering.
The cabin features front bucket seats and a rear bench upholstered in black vinyl joined by a matching dashboard, door panels, and carpets. Equipment includes a full-length center console, stainless trim, crank windows, lap belts, and a push-button radio. The air conditioning compressor has been removed, and the electric clock does not work.
The two-spoke steering wheel with a chrome horn ring frames a 120-mph speedometer and a multifunction gauge. The five-digit odometer indicates 85k miles, approximately 4k of which have been added by the seller. The dash tachometer and coolant temperature gauges do not work. A mechanical coolant temperature gauge is mounted below the dashboard.
The displacement of the replacement 454ci V8 is said to have been increased to 496ci and features a stroker crankshaft, an Edelbrock intake manifold, a four-barrel carburetor, electronic ignition, GM Performance aluminum cylinder heads, Chevrolet script valve covers, and tubular headers. The engine leaks oil, and an oil change was performed in November 2021.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a TH400 three-speed automatic transmission.
