This 1965 Chevrolet Impala Convertible is an SS 396/325 model that spent most of its life in California as indicated by the included black license plates. The car is finished in Ermine White over a red interior and was recently acquired by the selling dealer from a friend who restores vintage automobiles. The car had been stored indoors for over a decade, and is reportedly powered by a 325-horsepower 396ci V8, which is backed by a 4-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes factory A/C, an electric top, power brakes and steering, electric windows, and wind-up wing windows. Within the past month the seller commissioned Jim Verhey at ReinCARnation Auto in Colorado Springs to prepare the car for sale as further detailed below. This Impala SS is now being offered with a receipt for the recent service, three original keys, an owner’s manual, some original paperwork, and a clean Colorado title.
Before this Impala went into storage around 2008, it reportedly received a repaint in the correct Ermine White. A new top with rear glass was also added along with a set of American Racing wheels and redline tires. Exterior brightwork and rubber trim are noted to be in good condition, and around 40 exterior images are provided in the gallery below.
A paint flaw on the passenger’s side between the rear of the convertible top and the trunk lid is pictured next to a penny for scale in the gallery. Four new shocks were installed as part of the recent servicing. A correct Poly Glas belted spare tire is mounted in the trunk compartment as shown in the gallery.
The red vinyl cabin is said to be in largely stock condition aside from new rear seat belts. The front seat belts are original and faded according to the seller.
Factory options include functional A/C with a Frigidaire compressor, an electric top, power brakes and steering, electric windows, and wind-up wing windows. Around a month ago Jim Verhey at ReinCARnation Auto in Colorado Springs installed a new OEM wiring harness, a powder-coated dashboard, a new clock, and a new battery. Currently, the original AM/FM radio is inoperable and the left turn signal does not automatically cancel.
The 5-digit mechanical odometer shows 41,361 miles. Around 250 shakedown miles were added during the recent servicing.
Under the hood is a 325 horsepower 396ci V8 backed by a 4-speed manual transmission. Both the engine and transmission were reportedly rebuilt before the car was put into storage in 2008, however no receipts were given to the seller. As part of the recent servicing, a new fuel tank and sensor were installed, fluid changes were performed, and the engine, drivetrain, and electrics were tested.
