This 1965 Chevrolet Impala two-door sport coupe was acquired by the seller in 2016 and subsequently underwent a refurbishment that included installing a fuel-injected 496ci stroker V8 equipped with aluminum cylinder heads, rebuilding the four-speed manual transmission, refinishing the car in Regal Red, and refreshing the interior in black vinyl. The car was previously listed on BaT in September 2021 and features a Lunati camshaft, Comp roller rockers, an Edelbrock Air Gap intake manifold, and Hedman headers. Additional equipment includes a Pioneer touchscreen stereo, power steering, front disc brakes, lowering springs, Bilstein shocks, Hotchkis front and rear sway bars, and 20″ wheels. This modified Impala is now offered with uninstalled fender extensions, a spare wheel set, and a clean Washington title in the seller’s name.
The car was repainted in its current shade of Regal Red following the replacement of the right quarter panel and trunk floorboards. Features include black pinstripes, a fiberglass cowl hood, a chrome driver’s mirror, sequential LED tail lights, and a custom antenna. The windshield and wiper arms are said to have been replaced previously. The seller notes that the headlights do not stay on during continued use.
Chrome-finished 20” American Racing wheels are wrapped in Lexani and Pirelli tires, and the seller states that a spare set of 18″ wheels with Pirelli rubber is included in the sale. A Classic Performance Products primary brake hydraulic cylinder, front disc brake conversion, and adjustable proportioning valve have been installed along with a replacement booster, and the rear drum brakes are said to have been refreshed. The steering system reportedly received a Red Head remanufactured steering gear along with a replacement Saginaw power steering pump and tie rod ends. Suspension modifications include Hotchkis front and rear sway bars, lower rear control arms, and an adjustable rear Panhard rod, along with Bilstein shocks, Global West 2” drop springs, lowering spindles, adjustable front radius arms, and upper rear control arms. The seller notes that the brakes squeak.
The interior features front bucket seats and a rear bench that have been reupholstered in black vinyl along with matching door panels and a replacement headliner and carpeting. Dynamat sound deadening has been added to the cabin. Amenities include a heater, two point seat belts, and a Pioneer touchscreen stereo with Bluetooth and satellite radio connectivity that is paired with trunk-mounted Alpine amplifiers and Sony speakers.
A wood-rimmed three-spoke steering wheel frames a column-mounted AutoMeter tachometer and a horizontal 120-mph speedometer. The five-digit odometer shows 36k miles, approximately 600 of which were added under current ownership. True mileage is unknown.
The V8 was reportedly stroked to 496ci and fitted with a Lunati camshaft, aluminum cylinder heads with Comp roller rockers, H-beam connecting rods, a double roller timing chain, and replacement hoses. Additional equipment is said to include the following components:
- MSD Atomic electronic fuel injection
- Edelbrock Air Gap intake manifold
- Fluidamper 8” harmonic balancer
- Custom exhaust with Hedman long tube headers
- MSD ignition and blaster coil
- MSD 625hp fuel pump
- ARP pushrods
- High-volume oil pump
- High-output alternator
- March Serpentine 2 belt system
- K&N air filter
- Brass radiator
- Mishimoto dual cooling fans
- Mishimoto coolant overflow reservoir tank
Power is sent to the wheels via a four-speed Muncie manual transmission and a GM 12-bolt rear end with a 3.73:1 ratio Moser gear set and an Auburn Pro limited-slip differential. The transmission is noted to have been rebuilt and fitted with a replacement clutch, pressure plate, and flywheel. The reverse lockout is non-functional.
