This 1965 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu SS convertible is finished in black over black vinyl and powered by a replacement 350ci V8 paired with a column-shifted three-speed manual transmission. Additional equipment includes a replacement black soft top, 15″ Cragar wheels, SS badging, power windows, and a cassette stereo. The car was acquired by the current owner on BaT in June 2021 and subsequent work is said to have included fitting a replacement convertible top and a front disc brake conversion along with replacing the power window switches and motors, the alternator, the voltage regulator, and the battery. This Malibu convertible is offered on dealer consignment with service records, manufacturer’s literature, and a clean Oregon title.
The body was repainted in black under previous ownership, and a replacement black soft top is said to have been installed in 2022. Additional features include dual side mirrors, a retractable antenna, chrome bumpers and rocker moldings, and dual exhaust outlets. Blemishes are noted on the passenger quarter panel and near the trunk lid.
Polished 15″ Cragar alloy wheels are wrapped in 215/65 Grand Am Radial G/T tires. Stopping is provided by power-assisted factory rear drum brakes along with a front disc conversion said to have been fitted in 2022. The steering knuckles were replaced in 2013, and the aftermarket rear shocks are equipped with helper springs.
The seating surfaces were reupholstered in black vinyl under previous ownership, and amenities include a heater, power windows, and a cassette stereo. The power window switches and motors were reportedly replaced in 2022.
A two-spoke steering wheel frames a 120-mph speedometer and a combination gauge displaying fuel level, oil pressure, amperage, and coolant temperature. The five-digit mechanical odometer indicates 89k miles, approximately 100 of which were added under current ownership. True mileage is unknown.
Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a column-shifted three-speed manual transmission. Additional underside photos are presented in the gallery.
