This 1965 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu convertible has been refinished in black over black, and its replacement 327ci V8 is paired with a two-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes a black soft top, 14″ American Racing wheels, power-assisted drum brakes, power-assisted steering, Chevelle-branded floor mats, and a Sony cassette player. The selling dealer acquired the car in late 2021 from its previous owner of 25 years and has since changed the oil, flushed the coolant, and replaced the power-steering pump, wheels, and tires. This Chevelle is now offered at no reserve with manufacturer’s literature and a clean Oregon title.
The car was delivered new in Artesian Turquoise (K) and was refinished in black approximately two decades ago. The rear quarter panel was replaced at some point prior to this, and the black soft top utilizes a glass rear window. Other features include side moldings, chrome-finished bumpers, and chrome-tipped dual exhaust outlets. The selling dealer notes chips, blisters, and other imperfections in the paint.
Gray 14×7″ American Racing Torq Thrust wheels were installed along with 215/70 Cooper Cobra Radial G/T white-letter tires by the selling dealer. The brake shoes and wheel cylinders were replaced within the past year, and the system utilizes power-assisted drums front and rear. The car is also equipped with power steering.
The interior features a split-folding front bench and rear bench in black upholstery with cloth inserts, and the seats are said to have been re-covered approximately two decades ago when the car was painted. The selling dealer fitted floor mats to protect the black carpeting and replaced the heater blower as well as the trunk mat. The radio on the Sony cassette player does not work well, according to the selling dealer.
A two-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of a column shifter and instrumentation that includes a 120-mph speedometer, a clock, and a combination gauge. The five-digit odometer shows 82k miles, approximately 100 of which have been added by the selling dealer.
The replacement 327ci V8 is equipped with polished valve covers and an HEI distributor as well as Edelbrock components including the four-barrel carburetor, aluminum intake manifold, and air cleaner. The selling dealer changed the oil, flushed the coolant, installed an aluminum radiator, and replaced the power-steering pump.
The engine casting reads 3858174, indicating a 327ci V8 block built for 1964–1967. The pad stamping shown in the gallery ends in YS, which is consistent with a 327 made for the 1966–1968 model years.
Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a two-speed Powerglide automatic transmission, which received a replacement Lokar kickdown cable in preparation for the sale. Additional photos of the underside are presented in the gallery below.
Manufacturer’s literature and paint-chip sheets will accompany the car.
