This 1964 Chevrolet Chevy II Nova SS coupe is finished in Palomar Red over black and was originally delivered to Les Stanford Chevrolet of Dearborn, Michigan. It was the subject of a 2013 refurbishment by the seller that reportedly included repainting the exterior, refreshing the interior, and rebuilding the powertrain along with updates to the brake and suspension systems. The 283ci L77 V8 features a four-barrel carburetor and is paired with a four-speed manual transmission and a Posi-traction rear end. The car was awarded a Concours Gold selection at the 2017 Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals, and other documentation includes judging sheets, a window sticker, and car invoice. This Nova SS is offered with period manuals and a clean Illinois title in the seller’s name.
The body was originally finished in Palomar Red and was reportedly disassembled, blasted, and refinished during the refurbishment by the seller, who notes replacements for the passenger-side quarter panel, rear floor pan, and trunk pan. The paint and exterior trim are shown in detail in the photo gallery below.
Steel 14″ wheels are equipped with SS-branded covers and are mounted with BFGoodrich whitewall radial tires. A matching spare is fitted in the trunk along with the stock jack, and a stock set of wheels mounted on US Royal low profile 6.50-14″ black wall tires are included in the sale.
The interior features black bucket seats and a matching padded dashboard, door panels, and carpeting. Features include tinted glass, a heater, and a Delco push-button radio. Lap belts are equipped for the front occupants. The seller notes the passenger door hinge pin is in need of replacement.
The two-spoke steering wheel fronts an instrument cluster housing a 120-mph speedometer along with a 7k-rpm tachometer. The five-digit odometer shows just under 8k miles, and true mileage is unknown.
The 283ci V8 is topped with a four-barrel carburetor and was rated at 220 horsepower when new. The engine stamping shown in the gallery includes the CR suffix, which indicates the L77 283ci engine. The oil was changed in preparation for the sale according to the seller.
Power is sent rearward through a four-speed manual transmission and a 3.55:1 Posi-traction rear end. Additional photos of the underside are presented in the gallery.
