This 1964 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu convertible is a running project that was acquired by the seller in 2005 and subsequently fitted with a 350ci ZZ4 V8, a Tremec five-speed manual transmission, and a Currie 9″ rear end. The car was repainted in metallic red, and additional alterations includes Cragar 16″ wheels, a Hotchkis lowered suspension, Wilwood four-wheel disc brakes, a tilt steering column, and a Hurst shifter. This Chevelle Malibu Convertible project is now offered at no reserve with spare parts and a clean Washington title in the seller’s name.
The car was repainted in metallic red under current ownership, reportedly following the installation of a replacement trunk floor and repairs of the lower quarter panels. The grille, glass, trim, and exterior lighting are not installed, and the soft top fabric has been removed.
The 16″ Cragar wheels are wrapped in a mix of BFGoodrich Radial T/A and Vercelli tires. The ride height has been lowered by approximately 2″ using Hotchkis suspension components, and the seller states that larger sway bars have also been added. The brake system utilizes Wilwood four-wheel discs.
The cabin features front bucket seats trimmed in red vinyl and a blue vinyl rear bench. Additional equipment includes a Hurst shifter, brushed aluminum trim, and an air conditioning system. The driver’s seat is torn, and the door panels, carpeting, and radio are not fitted.
The two-spoke steering wheel is mounted to a tilt column and fronts a 120-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer has been reset to zero, and the total mileage is unknown. The steering wheel shows wear and is missing the horn button.
The General Motors ZZ4 350ci V8 was installed by the seller and reportedly fitted with Fast Burn aluminum cylinder heads. A Painless wiring harness has also been added per the seller.
A Tremec TKO-600 five-speed manual transmission with a hydraulic clutch was also added by the seller along with a Ford 9″ Currie rear end with 3.55:1 gearing. There is no driveshaft installed.
