This 1963 Chevrolet Impala SS convertible was delivered new to Oaklandon Chevrolet of Oaklandon, Indiana, and was refurbished under prior ownership including a repaint and a retrim of the red vinyl interior. Power comes from a 327ci V8 paired with a two-speed Powerglide automatic transmission, and additional equipment includes a white soft top, 14” wheels, fender skirts, chrome bumpers, engine-turned bright metal accents, an AM/FM cassette stereo, and power steering and brakes. The car was acquired by the seller in 2022, and subsequent work is said to have included a carburetor rebuild and replacement of the fuel tank, exhaust system, and convertible top lift cylinders. This Impala SS convertible is now offered with a 1963 invoice, a red top boot, and transferable New York State registration in the seller’s name.
The car left the factory finished in Ember Red (922) and was reportedly repainted approximately 15 years ago. Exterior features include chrome bumpers, dual side mirrors, fender skirts, and an engine-turned taillight panel and side spears. The white soft top was replaced when the car was repainted and the lift cylinders were replaced in 2022, according to the seller.
Steel 14″ wheels wear SS-branded covers and are mounted with BFGoodrich Silvertown whitewall tires. The car is equipped with power steering and power-assisted drum brakes at all four corners.
The cabin features front bucket seats and a rear bench trimmed in red vinyl with color-coordinated door panels and carpets. Engine-turned bright metal accents the instrument panel and center console. Additional appointments include a heater and an AM/FM cassette stereo mounted in the glove compartment. A push-button radio is fitted in the factory location, though it is inoperative.
The steering wheel fronts a 120-mph horizontal-sweep speedometer joined by a clock, warning lights, and a fuel gauge. Sun mechanical instruments including an ammeter and gauges for oil pressure and coolant temperature are mounted below the dash. The five-digit odometer shows 69k miles.
The 327ci Turbo-Fire V8 produced 250 horsepower when new. Work performed in 2022 reportedly included a rebuild of the Rochester four-barrel carburetor as well as an oil change.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a two-speed Powerglide automatic transmission. The dual exhaust system and fuel tank are said to have been replaced in 2022.
The 1963 invoice shows initial delivery to Oaklandon Chevrolet of Oaklandon, Indiana, as well as factory equipment and a total price of $3,821.50.
The car does not have a title, as it is registered in a state that does not issue titles for a vehicle of its age. It is being sold on its registration.
