This 1963 Chevrolet Impala Sport Coupe is powered by a 327ci V8 mated to a two-speed automatic transmission, and it is one of a limited number produced with Anniversary Gold paint to commemorate the building of Chevrolet’s 50-millionth vehicle. The car reportedly spent time in Kentucky and Indiana before coming under the deceased owner’s stewardship in 1994. Equipment includes black vinyl and patterned cloth upholstery, power-assisted brakes, power steering, 14″ wheels, a heater and defroster, and a push-button radio. This Impala hardtop is now offered at no reserve by the seller on behalf of the owner’s estate with manufacturer’s literature, historical information, and a clean New Jersey title.
The car left the factory in Anniversary Gold (927) with a body-color roof. Additional features include a tinted windshield, quadruple headlights, a single side mirror, Impala badging, body-side moldings, chrome bumpers, tail panel trim inserts, triple taillight groupings, and dual exhaust outlets. Paint chips and cracking weatherstripping can be seen in the gallery below.
The 14″ wheels wear Chevrolet-logo hubcaps and are mounted with Goodyear Custom Super Cushion thin-whitewall tires. Stopping power is provided by power-assisted drum brakes at all four corners. The car is equipped with power steering.
The cabin houses front and rear benches trimmed in black vinyl with patterned cloth inserts. Appointments include front lap belts, a padded dashboard, black rubber floor mats, interior lighting, and a push-button AM/FM radio. Wear is present on the door panel upholstery and metal trim, and there is rust on the trunk floor. The air conditioning does not blow cold air according to the seller.
The two-spoke steering wheel is mounted to a tilting column and fronts a sweeping 120-mph speedometer, a clock, and warning lights. The five-digit odometer shows 80k miles, approximately 18k of which were added under current ownership.
The 327ci Turbo-Fire V8 is equipped with a four-barrel carburetor and produced 250 horsepower when new.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a two-speed Powerglide automatic transmission. The seller states that the transmission leaks fluid after periods of inactivity. Corrosion is present on the underside components.
