This 1962 Chevrolet Impala sport coupe has been modified by its current owner of 20 years in the style of a Super Sport. Powered by a replacement 409ci V8 mated to an M21 four-speed manual transmission, the car is finished in blue over a matching interior, and equipment includes dual four-barrel carburetors, power steering, and bucket seats. Work performed in preparation for the sale included an oil change and replacements of the starter, exhaust-manifold gaskets, and heater hoses. This Impala is offered by the seller on behalf of the current owner with service records, handwritten maintenance notes, some spare parts, an inspection report, and a clean Ohio title.
Finished from the factory in Nassau Blue (914), the car was repainted by the previous owner with 10 coats of acrylic lacquer and clearcoat according to the seller, who notes that some rust repair was performed at the same time. Cosmetics include a four-bar grille, rocker-panel trim, and SS badging. Additional photos in the gallery highlight the condition of the exterior finish and trim.
Steel wheels measure 14″ and wear full covers equipped with faux three-eared spinners. Period-style BFGoodrich whitewall radial tires were fitted in 2005 according to the seller, and a matching spare resides within the trunk.
The monochromatic blue treatment is carried inside to the dashboard, tufted door panels, and on the replacement bucket seats. Further additions include an SS-style center console, grab bar, and spears. A Clarion cassette stereo is housed within the glovebox.
The metal dash fascia is fronted by a two-spoke steering wheel and houses a 120-mph speedometer. The five-digit odometer shows just under 31k miles. The seller notes an inaccurate speedometer and an inoperative factory clock and temperature gauge. Aftermarket gauges include a tachometer and readings for engine temperature and oil pressure; the inoperative stock two-piece Sun tachometer is included in the sale.
The 409ci V8 features a QB-stamped block sourced from a 1962 Chevrolet, and its cylinder heads were rebuilt in 2002 by TNT Auto Service of Forest, Ohio. Additional features include a pair of Carter four-barrel carburetors, an auxiliary cooling fan, a hydraulic camshaft, and replacement lifters, pushrods, and seals. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a replacement Muncie M21 four-speed manual transmission linked to a rebuilt 3.36:1 rear end. Work completed in October 2020 included an oil change and replacements of the exhaust-manifold gaskets, starter, and heater hoses.
Additional photos of the underside and stainless steel exhaust are included in the gallery below.
