This 1962 Chevrolet Impala SS Sport Coupe was acquired by the seller on BaT in August 2023 and subsequently fitted with power steering, power-assisted front disc brakes, and 15” American Racing wheels. The car is finished in red and powered by a replacement 409ci V8 equipped with dual four-barrel carburetors, while gear changes are through a Hurst shifter linked with a four-speed manual transmission. Inside, the red vinyl–trimmed seats are accompanied by a center console, a column-mounted tachometer, and Stewart-Warner auxiliary gauges. Further equipment includes engine-turned trim, quarter panel–mounted antennas, and a dual exhaust system. This Impala SS is now offered in Stow, Ohio, with a clean Ohio title in the seller’s name.
The car left the factory finished in Roman Red (923) and was repainted under prior ownership. A bright grille and headlamp surrounds are fitted up front, while engine-turned trim accents the tail panel and side moldings. Further details include 409 and SS badging along with door-mounted side mirrors, quarter panel–mounted antennas, and chrome bumpers.
The 15” American Racing Torq Thrust wheels feature black centers as well as polished lips and are mounted with 215/65 front and 255/60 rear Cooper Cobra GT white-letter tires. SS examples were fitted with a heavy-duty suspension that included revised front and rear coil springs and shock absorbers. This example was fitted with power steering and power-assisted front disc brakes under current ownership.
The front bucket seats and rear bench are upholstered in red vinyl and accompanied by a color-coordinated dash, door panels, front lap belts, and carpets. Engine-turned metal trim accents the cabin, and further details include a center console, a heater, vent windows, and Impala-branded rubber floor mats. The aftermarket digital stereo does not work.
A two-spoke steering wheel is paired with a floor-mounted Hurst shifter and sits ahead of a column-mounted tachometer, a 120-mph speedometer, a clock, and readouts for coolant temperature and fuel level. Three Stewart-Warner auxiliary gauges are mounted below the dash. The five-digit odometer shows 22k miles, approximately 200 of which have been added by the seller. Total mileage is unknown.
The replacement 409ci V8 was installed under previous ownership and features an orange-finished engine block and cylinder heads as well as 409 Turbo Fire–branded valve covers. Dual Carter four-barrel carburetors are fed by a dual-snorkel air cleaner assembly.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. The car is further equipped with a dual exhaust system.
