This 1962 Chevrolet Impala was acquired by its current owner eight years ago, and was refurbished and modified between 2013-2015. The work included a repaint in black, reupholstery of the interior in tan and red, and installation of a 6.2-liter LS3 V8 paired with a 4L70E automatic transmission. The car also features a Ford 9″ rear end with 31-spline axles, rack and pinion steering, adjustable coilovers, four-link rear suspension, power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes, 17″ US Mags wheels, stainless steel exhaust headers, a 20-gallon fuel tank, a retrofitted air conditioning system, power windows, and Dakota Digital gauges. This Impala is offered by the seller on behalf of its current owner with refurbishment receipts and a clean California title in the owner’s name.
The car was repainted in black and features an engine-turned taillamp panel as well as bright rocker panel trim, later-style body-colored mirrors, and side exhaust exits. Chrome 17″ wheels from US Mags measure 8″ wide up front and 10″ out back, and wear 235/45 and 285/40 Continental ExtremeContact DW Tuned tires.
The suspension has been modified with tubular upper and lower control arms, Viking double-adjustable billet aluminum front coilovers, a Global West triangulated four-link rear setup, a Hotchkis front sway bar, and a Hellwig rear sway bar. A power-assisted Unisteer rack and pinion steering assembly has also been fitted. Braking is handled by four-wheel discs with a chrome vacuum booster and dual-circuit master cylinder.
The interior features front bucket and rear bench seats upholstered in tan vinyl with red velour inserts along with matching door panels and a red dash. The interior sheet metal, doors, and trunk have reportedly been treated with Lizard Skin ceramic insulation coating. Amenities include a retrofitted air conditioning system from Vintage Air, a C5 Corvette shifter, a custom center console, and three-point front seatbelts as well as Nu Relics power assemblies for the front, rear, and wing windows.
An aftermarket wood-rimmed steering wheel on a Flaming River stainless steel tilting column frames analog gauges from Dakota Digital, which are said to interface with the engine management system through a VHX processor. The digital odometer shows 6k miles since installation.
The 6.2-liter LS3 V8 is said to be an E-Rod version and features a Griffin aluminum radiator with dual electric fans as well as Sanderson stainless-steel exhaust headers feeding MagnaFlow mufflers. The fuel system comprises a 20-gallon replacement tank, a Walbro 255-lph pump, stainless steel lines, and electronic injection. The engine bay features a chrome firewall cover and other dress-up components. A replacement vehicle wiring harness is also said to have been fitted.
A 4L70E automatic transmission routes power through a Strange Engineering Ford 9″ rear axle with a Roush Yates nodular third member, a differential locker, and 3.50:1 gearing. The frame was reportedly strengthened and modified to fit a custom one-piece driveline assembly.
