This 1962 Chevrolet Impala is a four-door hardtop that was acquired by the seller out of Portland, Oregon in 2005 and received a cosmetic and mechanical refresh approximately two years later. A 350ci V8 was installed at that time, along with an Edelbrock carburetor, an MSD ignition coil, chrome engine components, a replacement wiring harness, and an aftermarket dual exhaust system. A replacement four-speed 700R4 automatic transmission was also installed, and additional work consisted of a repaint in two-tone gold and orange metallic, a new carpet kit, and an overhaul of the brakes and suspension. Other modifications include 15″ wheels, LED underglow lighting, and an aftermarket stereo. This Impala is now offered with receipts from the refurbishment and a clean Pennsylvania title in the seller’s name.
Previously finished in black, the body was repainted in its current two-tone color scheme of gold and Daytona Sunset Orange Metallic following the installation of replacement quarter panels as well as repairs on the lower portions of the fenders and passenger floor. The trim was refurbished and the weatherstripping was replaced per the seller. Exterior equipment includes dual side mirrors, chrome bumpers and trim, twin exhaust outlets, and LED underglow lighting. Photos showing finish imperfections are included in the gallery.
Aftermarket 15″ wheels were powder coated during the refresh and are mounted with 245/60 BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires. The brake shoes, master cylinder, and lines were replaced, and the suspension was refreshed with replacement shocks, springs, front wheel bearings, tie rod ends, and a sway bar.
The cabin was reportedly reupholstered during previous ownership, while the carpeting, insulation, and kick panels were replaced by the seller. The bench seats are trimmed in black cloth and vinyl and feature lap belts for the front occupants. An aftermarket Panasonic stereo has been installed below the dash and is linked to aftermarket speakers fitted in the kick panels and rear shelf as well as a subwoofer and a Profile California amplifier located in the trunk. The push-button radio is reportedly not connected, and photos in the gallery show stains and a hole in the headliner.
A two-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of a horizontal-sweep 120-mph speedometer and aftermarket AutoMeter auxiliary gauges. The replacement five-digit odometer shows 87k miles, approximately 15k miles of which have been added by the seller. Total mileage is unknown.
The replacement 350ci V8 was installed by the seller and features black crinkle-finished valve covers. The radiator, blower motor, distributor, pulleys, wiring, hoses, engine mounts, and hood insulation were reportedly replaced at the time of the swap, and the following components were also installed:
- Edelbrock 600-cfm carburetor
- Edelbrock aluminum water pump
- MSD Blaster ignition coil
- Chrome alternator
- Electric fan
- Chrome, aluminum, and anodized components
- Aftermarket headers
- Aftermarket dual exhaust system with Borla-style mufflers
A rebuilt four-speed 700R4 automatic transmission was also installed and the driveshaft was shortened and balanced. The frame has been refinished in black, and photos showing corrosion on the underbody are included in the gallery, along with images from various stages of the refurbishment.
