This 1962 Chevrolet Impala began life as a hardtop and was converted to a roadster and modified by Derick Samson of Marshall, Missouri over 15 years ago. The body has been widened, fitted with a custom molded boot cover, and repainted metallic green with shaved door handles and badging. Power comes from a 350ci V8 crate engine equipped with Holley electronic fuel injection and paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. Additional features include Accuair E-Level airbag suspension, power-assisted steering, four green leather bucket seats, a Pioneer CD stereo, four-wheel disc brakes, custom side glass, and 18” and 20” Billet Specialties wheels. This modified Impala is being offered by the seller on behalf of the current owner with a clean Arizona title.
Work during the build is said to have included rust remediation and installation of replacement quarter panels, as well as a roadster conversion, widening the body by 1”, installing a custom molded boot cover, and shaving the door handles and badging. The car received a two-stage repaint in metallic green, and additional features include electric door poppers, chrome side trim and bumpers, and custom side glass.
Billet Specialties Vintec wheels measure 18” up front and 20” out back and are mounted with Continental ExtremeContact tires. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel discs with Samson Design-branded calipers up front. The car rides on electronically-adjustable Accuair E-Level airbag suspension with 2” lowered front spindles.
The cabin features four bucket seats trimmed in green leather with patterned inserts, along with custom door panels and dark green carpets. Additional equipment includes a matching center console, power-assisted steering, and a Pioneer CD stereo located in the glovebox.
A two-spoke steering wheel with a chrome horn ring is mounted to an Ididit column and sits ahead of a custom body-color dashboard housing a single Classic Instruments combination gauge, while water temperature and oil pressure gauges are housed in the glovebox. The five-digit odometer shows 1k miles, though total mileage is unknown.
The 350ci V8 crate engine features body-color valve covers and ancillary components, along with Holley electronic fuel injection, MSD ignition, a Holley ECU, a custom exhaust, and a Painless Performance wiring harness.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission. Additional underbody photos are provided in the gallery below, along with photos of receipts totaling approximately $55k.
